I am extremely disappointed by this firm’s billing practices and would strongly caution others before engaging them. I was a client of this firm 4–5 years ago for my own estate planning. Recently, I sent a single email inquiry asking about the process and cost for estate planning for my father. That is all. I did not ask to proceed, retain the firm, or authorize any legal work. Despite this, I was later billed over $300 simply for an attorney to read my email. The firm also generated additional internal work that I never requested, and I was informed I would be charged over $600 in total because of that unsolicited work. I never responded to their follow-up emails and never consented to moving forward. After I objected, the firm eventually “forgave” the additional charge—but only after I had agreed to pay the $300 fee. That does not make the situation acceptable. Billing hundreds of dollars for reading an inquiry email—especially when no services were authorized—is unreasonable and alarming. When I was their actual client years ago, there was similar excessive billing practices. In my experience, this firm operates with extremely aggressive and non-transparent billing practices. Clients should be very cautious, particularly when making what they believe to be a simple informational inquiry. I regret contacting this firm and would not do so again.
