Caryn is intelligent, ethical, intuitive, patient, compassionate, constructive, quick witted, professional, ingenious and I can probably keep going but one thing I appreciated was her transparency with me. I had a high conflict divorce/custody case and I did not feel it would be over as fast as it was but to my surprise we were able to fully settle at mediation with a desirable result. Caryn was quick to notice important details, was outstanding in her communication with opposing counsel and I felt completely safe trusting her judgment. I'm impressed by her integrity and perseverance. Wonderful family law attorney.

I take my grandfather who has dementia and my grandmother who has just been diagnosed with stage four cancer and only has a few months to live to this lawyer for their wills. So we first there’s a sign on the fort that says they require masks, ok no problem I even wear a mask when I’m with them in fear of them getting sicker. But the receptionist doesn’t have a mask! Then we wait 45 min after our scheduled appointment time then we walk into the office where she’s on her phone and she gives us some half-hearted excuse and doesn’t even apologize. Then when my grandmother tried to express her feelings the layers was rude and said “I don’t care what you think”. I would have never have brought my dying grandparents to this woman if I knew that was the way she acts. Honestly horrible.

I had another Great Father's Day with my kids this year thanks to the hard work by Caryn and Teresa. You girls are awesome. Thanks again.

Nice friendly and very helpful

It would not allow me to leave half of a star. She is a crook with a license to practice law. Did next to nothing on my case. Total time I had her was 6 weeks. I’ve paid her in full $3300. All the work was done for her. She has face to face conversation w me saying I will receive a fabricated bill(which was for court purposes only) and to ignore it and I would receive new bill of only $200 or $300 owing in a couple days. Meanwhile I received several emails with incorrect numbers and information on my case as facts to be sent to the opposing attorney. Unhappy with this I responded with emails that were yes direct and probably could be misconstrued as harsh. She called and had an hour long conversation with me about how she did not appreciate my attitude. Then hung up and sent me a new email that I now owed her an additional $3600 which included our hour long phone conversation of how she didn’t appreciate my attitude and response to her. I was in awe of this now $3600 bill when I basically had no bill. She sent another email stating how she was ending the relationship with me. She was withdrawing from the case and she would not work another minute on my case unless the bill was paid in full immediately!! Practically begged me to sign the withdrawal she sent. I signed it and sent it to her immediately. Then now I receive another email asking me to sign another form from the other party and acting like I’m an idiot and she is still my attorney. I call her and she explains she has an obligation to still work for me and then says I need to know when U are going to pay your attorney fees because she will be suing me and putting a lien against my house and then hung up on me. This is the most unprofessisonal practice I have ever witnessed and I pray the bar association looks into her. If you are in her office, leave now. Don’t me another victim of her not being able to handle high stress situations and frustrated individuals who need a strong attorney to stand by them and do what’s right but instead bullying them, degrading them and quite frankly, taking money from them simply because she says she can and that you owe it because she wrote it down and sent you the bill. Bar association is next step.

Caryn and her team are extremely professional, and they tell it like it is. They are extremely effective at getting the job done and I will certainly use them again if the need arises. I had a very unreasonable opponent that made it hard for me to deal with. Caryn Van Matre law firm took that burden off my shoulders to ensure a fair and equitable outcome! Thank you Caryn!
