This firm handled my mother’s case for well over a year and consistently gave us the impression that the case was actively moving forward. Just last month, they were urgently contacting her requesting additional information because, according to them, they needed to move quickly to file suit before the statute of limitations expired. My mother immediately provided everything they asked for, trusting that her case was being properly handled. Then, only weeks later, they abruptly dropped her with nothing more than a letter, no phone call, no meaningful explanation, and no regard for the position this placed her in with the statute deadline approaching next month. What makes this even more concerning is that throughout their representation, they repeatedly expressed confidence that she had a valid case, which makes this sudden withdrawal extremely questionable. To make matters worse, when my mother went in person to retrieve her file and respectfully asked if she could speak with the attorney for just a few minutes to understand why her case had been dropped after over a year of representation, she was brushed off repeatedly. First, she was told he was preparing for another meeting. After waiting outside the building to speak with him briefly, he exited and dismissed her again, stating he was “on the way to court.” The complete lack of communication, transparency, and basic professional courtesy in handling a client’s case, especially this close to the statute of limitations, has been beyond disappointing. At minimum, clients deserve honesty, respect, and direct communication after entrusting a law firm with their case for over a year. If you are comfortable taking the risk of your case being dropped with little notice after substantial time has already passed, then that is your decision. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend seeking representation elsewhere. Fortunately, we are grateful to have found another law firm willing to step in and take over where this firm failed to properly follow through.
