I had the good fortune to have obtained as my counsel the law firm of Gair, Gair and Conason following my accident that left me in pain and in the hospital and rehab for quite a long time. Peter J.Saghir was my direct contact with this firm who led me through tough times as we fought the defendant for several years that started around the Covid-19 crisis. Peter and his assistant, Angella, treated me like family and fought very hard on my behalf. Peter turned a stressful situation into a manageable one. I was kept informed throughout the time period and calls were always returned immediately. Peter gave me realistic hope for a better offer initially submitted by the defendant's attorneys and we succeeded in that endeavor. The Deposition was thoroughly gone over in the event of a jury trial that did not occur, but i was ready because of Peter and his staff.
The results were favorable and I am forever grateful for choosing Gair, Gair and Conason to represent me. Finally, I want to emphasize that Peter, Angella and Anna and staff have become people that I will fondly remember for a very, very long time. Peter can be assured that I will recommend him and his law firm for future assistance. Thank you Peter

A Shield in the Storm:
"Standing against a powerful religious institution is a lonely, daunting experience. While Peter and his team brought a formidable legal strategy and an unshakable grasp of precedent to my case, their true impact cannot be measured in filings or victories alone.
It is a given that this team is relentless—they possess a 'no stone unturned' tenacity that provides an incredible sense of security. But what I wasn’t prepared for was the profound emotional sanctuary they offered. In a process that often feels cold and legal, they provided a space where it was safe to be vulnerable. They didn't just represent me; they carried the heavy emotional burden of my journey as if it were their own.
There is a rare, quiet power in the way they listen. Amidst the chaos and pain of repeating such a traumatic childhood experience, they made me feel as though my story was the only one that mattered. Their authenticity and empathy acted as a lifeline, offering calm encouragement while they fought fiercely on the for me. Peter and his team didn't just win a legal battle; they restored my spirit by treating my humanity with as much respect as my case.

This firm saved my life. To my attorney/paralegal- thank you for everything you both have ever did for me. Ill always be grateful.
Google only lets me leave 5 stars, i would leave 5 million if I could and that would not still be enough to reflect the true work this firm does on behalf of their clients. They are angels here.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible work done by Howard Hershenhorn and his associate, Rich Soldano. After suffering a serious injury that left me out of work, I was overwhelmed, frightened about my future, and unsure of what to do next. From the moment I reached out to Howard and his team, they treated me with compassion, respect, and a level of professionalism that immediately put me at ease.
Howard, Rich, and the entire team worked tirelessly on my case. They guided me through every step of the process, answered all my questions with patience, and made sure I always understood what was happening. Their dedication and expertise resulted in a very generous compensation—far more than I ever expected—and it has truly changed my life. Because of them, I’ve been able to regain stability and move forward after a very difficult period.
I am genuinely grateful for everything Howard and his team have done for me. Without their hard work, I honestly don’t know where I’d be today. I would recommend Howard Hershenhorn, Rich Soldano, and their entire practice to absolutely anyone in need of exceptional legal representation. They are not only outstanding attorneys—they are people who truly care.

Thank you again for your recommendation—it means more than you know.
Ben Rubinowitz and Peter Saghir had the passion and vision required to make our hopeless case a precedent-changing one. Our previous counsel told us we had very little recourse in our case. Ben and Peter agreed, but they decided the only way forward was to wage a ten-year dedicated campaign to change New York State law. They took it all the way to the New York Supreme Court and succeeded, which tells you everything you need to know. Not only did they change our families' lives forever, but countless other families will be able to seek justice due to their perseverance. I cannot overstate what Ben and Peter accomplished for us.
Owner response
Dear Jayson,
Thank you for sharing this powerful reflection. Your family’s courage over many years made the result possible, and we were honored to stand with you. Ben Rubinowitz, Peter Saghir, and our team are committed to pursuing justice—case by case—and, when necessary, advancing the law to protect New Yorkers. We’re grateful for your trust and will continue to fight for families seeking accountability.
I called regarding a wrongful death case for my family. The assistant I first spoke with was very kind and professional. When Ben Rubinowitz got on the line, the tone changed immediately. About a minute into summarizing the case, he cut me off and said, ‘Hold up, I can’t follow you, just email me a summary and I’ll get back to you.’
I understand some lawyers prefer to review cases in writing, but this wasn’t about process, it was the abrupt and dismissive way it was handled, especially at such a sensitive time. I later called KDLM and had the opposite experience, they listened with patience and respect.
Sharing this so others know what to expect in case this is a pattern.
Owner response
Dear Tony Jones,
Thank you for your feedback. Please call back and ask for Mr. Rubinowitz directly — he would like to speak with you and will make himself available.
Thank you
My father sustained a spinal cord injury which has turned his life upside down. In these past years, the only bright spot that has helped me and my family has been this firm. At the beginning of our process, after researching firms, my family and I decided to put our trust in Marijo (MJ) Adimey and Aaron Ser who have now become family to us. These two angels spent all their time, energy and attention on working on our case. As a result of MJ and Aaron, the firm was able to secure a historic verdict.
It’s almost impossible for me to convey how hard MJ and Aaron fought…it’s one of those things that can only be understood by seeing it up close. They’ve spent countless hours and sleepless nights researching and studying our case, which was extremely complicated. It’s clear that for these lawyers, they’re not doing this just because it’s a job. Instead, they are doing this because they felt invested in the justice that me and my family deserved.
Overall, to any of those seeking legal representation, please feel free to do your research, but as someone who has already gone through this, I am confident in saying that there is no better firm than Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf. In our time with them, we've interacted with a countless number of other people at their firm (such as Howard, Richard and Polina) who were all warm and welcoming to us.
Thank you MJ, thank you Aaron and thank you to everyone at their firm; my family will always think about how much you’ve done for us.

*Tiffany Deas, who's Black, plays a role in shaping a narrative that protects the firm at my expense. Read more on Yelp.*
Let it be very clear, this is not about disappointment over not getting representation with this firm, that assumption is both untrue and harmful. It minimizes my credibility and intentions, and such framing risks discouraging survivors from pursuing compensation claims. Comments like this perpetuate a culture where victims are made to feel bad for coming forward if a high-stakes firm such as this deems their case as “too small,” regardless of whether substantial claims exist. This reply was not only expected, but one I wanted to elicit by initially leaving this new review blank so I could then publicly defend myself. I removed my original review as a courtesy to Ben and his firm, given what initially appeared to be their remorse for how I was treated. That review has been suppressed by this firm, but I found a way around it.
I emphasized from the beginning that I respected this firm’s decision. My issue was how I was treated in the process as I was treated with the utmost lack of respect and regard. I was not given any formal closure on the sudden disengagement. Ben then referred me to a guy named “Ed” who I believe doesn’t exist and never contacted me. I called Ben’s ethics to the table, a blast that I believe he did not see coming. He quickly apologized and went into redemption mode. In good faith, I allowed Ben an opportunity to course correct, not to seek representation, but to address conduct. I soon learned, however, that he was out to manage my emotions to protect himself and his firm’s reputation, and likely using me to bolster his legal strategy for an ongoing case involving the first known victim against the same entities that harmed us. My dignity and story deserve the same respect they’d give someone with money, status, or a high-stakes claim.
The facts are: I stepped away from this firm after continued disrespect, inadequate disclosure, confusing changes, and improper communication remained. Falsehoods were presented to me about retainment and a demand letter in action, as well as an alleged consult with a medical provider who “reviewed” my case, though Ben and I had no formal agreement for him to do so, nor had we conducted a full review of my evidence. Ben requested my sensitive documentation yet claimed he had not seen it during our initial conversation. I did later agree to re-share two forms of documentation, which I now regret and revoke his firm retaining. It’s worth noting that Ben shared explicit details of the first known victim’s assault with me (a non-client), which were a revelation and are not part of her public narrative at this time. As a woman and survivor, I questioned whether she consented to this disclosure, and I chose to respect her privacy. His lack of ethical sensitivity in handling this is astounding.
I strongly recommend trauma-informed training for Ben Rubinowitz and his staff, as belittling another survivor, especially one navigating severe harm, is both damaging and unacceptable. How can you position yourself as a savior and leader for systemic change for the first known victim, yet disregard the second known victim? Those optics are horrendous and a PR nightmare. In my view, this experience revealed a troubling gap between the values this firm markets and the reality they deliver when the cameras are off. The sour grapes narrative is a smear, and one I will not stand for. I wish the first known victim the best in obtaining the justice and compensation she deserves, but I intend to advocate for my own experience independently, whether or not I pursue civil litigation.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned here is never to return to a place, or a person, that compounded the harm of my original assault. Once someone shows you they cannot hold your story with care, you don’t hand it back to them. My claims here are substantiated by evidence that will be forwarded to the appropriate agencies and used in my public advocacy. I will not be silenced. All the best.

My name is Tiffany Deas. I am the Administrative Assistant to Ben Rubinowitz. I usually don’t write reviews on social media sites; however, I feel compelled to respond to this review because it is both inaccurate and unfair. I was present during the two days that Lasonta Bynoe came to the office. I sat through the entirety of both meetings. Ben Rubinowitz was respectful, kind, and professional at all times. He explained to Ms. Bynoe that she did not have a medical malpractice case on which he could move forward. He explained that in order to proceed with a medical malpractice case in New York there has to be a departure from the accepted standard of care. Not only did he repeatedly explain that there was no departure from the accepted standard of care, but he provided Ms. Bynoe with illustrations making clear that there were no departures and explained that he had consulted with a medical expert who made clear that there were no departures. Unfortunately, Lasonta Bynoe would not accept the fact that she did not have a case on which we could proceed. When she left the office, I personally escorted her to the door and she was not only pleased but thanked us for our help. Following this, we received a negative review on Google which is above. I state point-blank that there is no merit to this review. I have worked with Mr. Rubinowitz for more than a decade and can state with certainty that he is always conscientious, professional and has never treated a client in the manner in which Ms. Bynoe states. In my opinion, if Mr. Rubinowitz takes your case, you will not only be in good hands but you will be lucky to have such representation.
