I retained Goldstar law to assist me with an employment discrimination case. There is a 90 day window after an EEOC investigation to file a case in Federal court. 60 days into this deadline while reviewing the EEOC file they dropped my case and I was given this bit of news by some underling at the firm. The attorney would not speak directly with me. I asked if at the least they would help me prepare the documents to file on my own as I had zero legal experience but the abandonment was complete leaving me with less than 30 days to learn how to do it myself. Other attorney I contacted stated I had a good case but with only 30 days to file passed on representation. Using the EEOC file information reviewed by a non attorney at the firm I figured it out and as a self represented person I settled my claim against a governmental agency for $125,000. Myself, a non attorney… I guess it goes without saying that not all lawyers can be trusted.
