His legs shook in the courtroom. He would call me sounding drunk/lit and argue with myself (his own client). Was good at paperwork charging but a huge disappointment in the courtroom. He was always on vacations/golfing. I was referred to him by a friend and this guy let myself and my family down. He tried to save face with the other side and did not fight for me. He did not perform. He told me I had problems and that he was annoyed to hear about my ex spouse called it "complaining." He would talk about drinking booze. He tried to make busy work just to bill more. Tried to have my family and I sign a contract with him when he had been paid up in full always. This contract included the ability for him where he could come after assets to get paid. He returned my paperwork after being paid thousands; paperwork was within a box with a dozen former clients names and types of cases on the side of it. He did not care and didn't represent me like he stated he would. Like another review says on here, the guy does whatever he wants. Avoid!

I feel that John was very helpful with my experience. He was straightforward with me he kept me in the loop on everything I needed to know. I appreciate his honesty and his Integrity with my divorce. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. Thank you so much John

Jon Hoekstra is a joke wasted $4500 On him to get custody of my son and prove his mother unfit I handed him all the evidence to prove her unfit and he don't even use it he does what ever he wants and not what u want he trys to do things in steps so he can keep you in court so he can keep charging you money for things he don't want to file everything at once so you have to keep paying him your money I do not recommend him for anything i now have to retain a different lawyer

I only gave one star because zero was not an option. It is my opinion that anyone reading this should not hire this attorney. He was horrible at responding to calls or emails, he was horrible at relating information to me regarding my case, he stated that just because I was not required to be at a hearing he did not have to tell me about it. It is my opinion that he generated fees above what would have been required due to his poor communication skills, and he felt the need to submit a claim on his remaining bill to the court and charge me for preparing it. Let me put it this way, if you need a lawyer, use my ex-wife's, he communicated with me far better than this guy.

I did not do much work with this office, but I think its important that not only was his office one of only 3 in town that actually answered their phone but he himself answered the phone and spoke to me about some problems I was having. He was helpful and courteous.
