Jennifer was recommended to me by a trusted colleague of a friend who is also an attorney, and I’m very grateful I found her. I was initially hesitant about the consultation fee because I did not have much experience with legal matters, but she quickly stood out as extremely knowledgeable, professional, and not at all pushy.
She is clearly very smart, highly organized, and takes her work seriously. She set expectations clearly from the beginning, including how much material she would review before a consultation, and I could tell she truly read and digested what I sent her beforehand. I would much rather have that kind of clarity and follow-through than vague promises.
I also consulted with another attorney to explore my options, and that experience made me appreciate Jennifer even more. Even though he did not set a page limit, it seemed clear that he had only skimmed the materials I sent, and the consultation felt more sales-driven. Jennifer, on the other hand, was prepared, practical, and genuinely focused on helping me, which is why I went back to her.
She also understood how expensive it can be to hire an attorney and never pushed unnecessary services. Instead, she was honest about when I could handle things on my own and even suggested practical options like using her template instead of paying her to draft everything for me.
I ended up relying on her for consultations and guidance throughout the process while doing much of the work myself. With her help, I was able to get a protection order granted, and the court also ruled that the harasser had to pay my attorney’s fees. I highly recommend her. Thank you Jennifer!
I had a pretty poor experience in my consultation with Jennifer, especially relative to another firm that I will be retaining. First, she narrowly engaged on only the ~20 page pre-read limit she imposes (not enough to capture most individual case documents) to then inform her advice. Despite being informed before the consultation that there was a lot of context that needed to be discussed outside those documents, she didn't seem at all interested in understanding the full picture to make more insightful strategic advice and instead jumped right into opining. She gave a generic recommendation on resolution approach that depended on multiple parties' discretion and was thus a nondeterministic path, but didn't offer any strategic advice for how to approach things (especially based on her prior case experience) if things didn't play out the way she was advising. Can be summarized in terms of 'lack of caring', which when contrasted against others' reviews makes me question how high of a bar she holds on her service relative to her biases/how she feels about a case. Lastly, her command on basic court facts lacking. She believed something to be impossible that in fact was possible and how I came prepared to the consultation (upon free advice from the legal assistant at another firm). Overall, it seems she made up her mind on the case before the consultation began and gave the bare minimum during it to collect her fee. The email follow-up provided no useful insights or materials that couldn't be found online with more than 10 minutes of research.
Finding Jennifer Horwitz was an absolute blessing. She’s the kind of attorney who truly cares compassionate, incredibly responsive, and deeply knowledgeable. Even when she wasn’t feeling well, she still took the time to help me and answer my questions. In a court system that can feel confusing and overwhelming, Jennifer made me feel safe, supported, and confident every step of the way. I’m so grateful I found her and hope others who need that kind of help are able to find her too.

In each consult, I give the best, most useful advice that I can based on over 30 years of experience. I am always happy to review more than 20 pages of material, if my time is paid for, but a review of up to 20 pages is included in the consult. I offer my input on possible ways to deal with each case and situation I consult on and provide any useful materials I can after the consult. Most people find their consults with me very helpful and I strive to provide useful information to each person I consult with.

I successfully secured a full protection order while representing myself pro se, and Jennifer's guidance was absolutely invaluable throughout this challenging process. She provided expert strategic advice on how to effectively represent myself, offered insightful feedback on my prepared testimony and evidence, and patiently demystified the complex court system for me. Jennifer's support empowered me to navigate unfamiliar legal territory with confidence, directly contributing to this positive outcome. I highly recommend her for anyone seeking dedicated and professional legal guidance.

Thank you, Nahn, it was a privilege to support you in this process and I am thrilled you prevailed, even when there was a lawyer on the other side.
Jennifer was beyond what you would expect for a lawyer to be. She provided to me the services that is hard to find in a lot of lawyers that she was working based on ethics and not just for money. She was very fair and up front and honest. She provided to me not what I wanted to hear but what I needed to hear, which gave me the confidence to move forward with my legal situation with the confidence and surety that I did not have before Consulting her. She also in self-initiated following it up as to the results of the information from the consolation that she provided to me. She went above and beyond to ensure that I was being navigated in the right direction per her consolation, by leaving herself open to communicating with her if I had any questions or unsurities, as she responded properly back to my inquiries. She shows that she takes Pride in her profession and she is all what you would expect for a lawyer to be. She gives you confidence that when you hire her, you have a lawyer.
Jennifer is such a talented attorney. She is one of the best in Seattle. She was assigned to me because I couldn’t obtain counsel (aka I was broke). I am so beyond lucky to have her. Everyone that we have to work with has said the same. I would highly recommend her! She has been my counsel for a federal criminal case. She handles everything with such care and grace. I appreciate her so much and will forever recommend her to anyone I know!!

Thank you so much, Audrey, it is a privilege to represent you!
Jennifer helped me with a 1hr consultation for a protective order. Her preparation and edits helped me in getting that order approved. It was a really rough hearing, but because of Jennifer's advice it went so much smoother on my end. Thank you Jennifer!
I had a one hour consult with Jennifer regarding a domestic violence protective order.
Her keen attention to detail, ability to organize and articulate was critical in my case. She reviewed all my documentation, made great recommendations and was well worth it.
We didn’t use the entire hour, so she even credited me the leftover time for additional consultations as they came up, mainly document review and advice.
I consulted with Jennifer about a personal complex and dysfunctional relationship which I had legal concerns about. I was impressed with Jennifer’s ability to listen, comprehend, digest, and provide a sensible problem-solving solution on a practical level that keenly addressed my situation. We were able to speak about my situation and concerns without my feeling judged. Jennifer’s assistance was counseling in nature and outside of legal issues and helpful assisting me to come to peace with my situation.
I have worked with Jennifer on cases for years and we also consult often about our cases. Jennifer and I tried a complex criminal case together in a trial that lasted a month. I saw up close her tenacity, meticulousness, and razor-sharp analytical skills. She considered every possible investigative strategy, case theory, and legal issue. Her courtroom and writing skills are exceptional. Through exhaustive legal research, she finds the relevant cases and legal arguments and then crafts motions to persuasively apply them to the facts in her cases. Jennifer is also one of the most ethical people, both professionally and personally, that I know. She always considers costs to her clients and holds herself to a high standard of doing exceptional work as efficiently as possible. This includes how she approaches her consultation practice, where she works hard to bring her practical, problem-solving skills to bear on a variety of situations so that she can help clients. As with her cases, in her consults, she strives to deliver value-for-dollar for each hour that she works. Jennifer balances tremendous advocacy with her duty of integrity to the courts, as lawyers are barred from bringing frivolous motions. Her reputation for over 30 years in this community has earned her abiding respect from judges and adversaries – in part because she knows which battles to fight and what motions are worth litigating. The quality of her work and her reputation live up to her Harvard education.
Jennifer is a good listener and very efficient. We used her both for consultative services and also full representation. In the consulting context, she met with us for one hour to guide us through the needed legal process and provide suggestions for how to prepare our papers, we then prepared them on our own and had good success. In particular, she had very good advice and insights into the organization and structure of our papers. Separately, we retained her for a matter and again, she was very efficient and also got us excellent results. We were very pleased with her services.
