I am a 90% disabled veteran attempting to recoup lost benefits from mistreatment by the Army National Guard. Reached out to Patti Shewmaker and spoke with someone who’s demeanor on the phone appeared to be nothing more than refuting my intentions bye quickly telling me I was wrong based on her understanding of the limited facts that she had from me within a five minute phone call. Was unable to give the complete story of what happened with me. This lady came off as rude, abrupt and just not very comfortable to talk to. Rather than continuing what seemed to be a process no more comfortable than a tooth extraction appointment with my dentist, I used my best judgment and ended the conversation with this rude lady. Word to the wise, before you spend thousands of dollars, ensure they have the communication skills needed to take care of you. Currently: October 2025- I am, and have been receiving 100% Disabled Army Veteran Benefits (Indefinitely). Additionally, I am now RECEIVING ALL of my earned Social Security Benefits due to my Service Connected Disability. As I stated before, do not allow some fool attorney to masquerade as knowledgable, and speak to you without the simple respect all potential new clients deserve. If I would’ve listened to this foolish lady, I would not have all the benefits that I currently have been awarded. Stay away from this law firm.
