Called twice. 1st spoke with someone very rude. Then left an urgent voicemail and never received a response. I do not recommend.

We are very sorry that we were not able to help you with your injury but are confused how that interaction has resulted in this negative review. Prior to listening to their lies, I negotiated with the insurance company for 27,000 with a medical lien i negotiate fromn 23,000 about 7500. The reason I went with Shuman Legal is because they seemed to be honest and stand by there word. Well after I signed everything changed. I went through 3 different paralegals. I would call sometimes to check on my case and would have to call back sometime after a week. They first informed me that the cost would be 33% and 40% if we have to go to trial. We'll they should have just said 40% because as they stated any paper filed is considered court/trial. They also didnt inform me that the court fees and cost are not included in that 40%. After waiting another year of them trying to negotiate i settled for about double what I negotiate, which was the final offer before having to go to trial. It took them 2 months to negotiate an addition 3000 off the medical lien and for me to get my check. Finally my check was ready and I went downtown to there office to pick it up just to be disappointed. They charged me 40% plus court cost. My question was why did you charge me 40% and not 33% and why aren't the court cost included in the 40% and why did you lie and wasn't up front about it. He stated that it common practice and you might find 1 out of 100 lawyers that doesn't charge this. No excuses I wanted to hear especially if it didnt change that amount on the check. They took 21,000 plus court cost for me to only get about 4,000 more than i would have got negotiating for myself. In other words I hired them to pay there checks and office space. I wouldn't recommend. I would negotiate with the insurance company yourself or find lawyer with lower price. There's nothing that sets Shuman legal apart because as they told me its standard practice charges. So dont let them feed you that BS or ask them what sets them apart if you do decide. They help me learn a huge lesson and I would never want them representing me again. A Rip-off.

Once a case enters litigation, additional work, time, risk, and expense are involved, which is why that distinction exists. Court costs and case expenses are also standardly separate from attorney fees, and this is outlined in the written agreement provided at the start of representation. <br><br>We also understand how important consistent communication is. Transitions in staffing can sometimes occur, but that should never impact a client’s ability to receive timely updates, and we take that feedback seriously. We have adjusted our internal processes to reduce the risk of that in the future. <br><br>That said, we are pleased that your case ultimately resolved for approximately double the amount of the pre-representation offer, along with additional reductions to your medical lien. <br><br>We are always open to discussing any concerns directly with you and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further to address any remaining questions.
