I am very happy I called Sweat Law Firm for my divorce. They are very professional and friendly. They did all the work and my divorce was final very quickly. I recommend anyone to call Sweat Law Firm with any issues you may have. Thank you Sweat Law Firm for my new beginning.
The communication with this attorney and office is bone existence. To get an update on my summons I have called, email and left a voicemail with no update. I am thinking about withdrawing my services. I am not sure what she can do in court . If I paid my fee with a credit card I would dispute it . At this point I submitted my divorce packet in November and they are still telling me how the clerk hasn’t signed it’s with no explanation way beside it’s the holiday. It’s been 2 months now I can afford to switch lawyer so I am going to stay for now .
Mrs. Shiela Sweat went above and beyond to help me with signing important paperwork. She was incredibly kind, professional, and responsive, and she made a stressful situation feel much easier. Her willingness to go out of her way to help truly meant a lot to me. I highly recommend Sheila to anyone looking for a lawyer who genuinely cares about her clients.

I came to this lawyer because she was supposed to be such a good lawyer. When I spoke to her on the phone and then in her office ,I explained to her how I was ripped off by my divorce lawyer and how I had no representation in that court room . I told her I was not only impoverished by this case but I needed help at least getting my mother's airloms, my grandfather's ww2 flag over his casket, and even getting what the little I was given in divorce that my ex wife would not give me . I told her I was broke and homeless, but if she could help id give up a place to stay to get these very important things . She charged me 2500 down then pd off 1500, at 350 a month. I got nothing, she did nothing, not a letter ,not 1 court date nothing . She charged me $ 4000 dollars to read my file that took over a yr and to not even get a phone call, but i got a lousy email saying sorry can't help you bye. I've sent many messages and calls with 2 responses in all this time . She is a terrible lawyer and an even worse human being . Stole my food money and promised not do me like my other lawyer ,and instead doing even less. Do not hire this lawyer ,she cares about money as I got plenty of calls when my card didn't work due to chase telling me thos was fraud, but not any attention to my problem, actually making it worse . Hire at your own risk , she has no empathy for you only her pocket .She promised me to get me justice for my case she explained through her partner Ms Texter as my other lawyer made tons of mistakes then wanted 1200 more and when I couldn't pay she dropped me, not with a call but a lousy email. I dont know how these lawyers sleep at night devastating lives for money. I literally had to give her account, routing number to pay her. I got calls everytime card didn't work but not 1 bit of help in this case. I will be filing with the bar ,but we all know she will get away with helping destroy my life ,as im now living in squalor, broke and hungry . 4000 dollars then wanted another 1200 when I couldn't afford it she dropped me
Stealing 4000 dollars and 0 work ,im worse off now then when I hired her. I pray she gets in life exactly what she deserves. She's a heartless woman that took advantage of someone poor ,that begged for her help and got a bunch of promises and 0 return . How evil must you be to take money from a poor client begging for your help, knowing you weren't gonna do anything for him. Promised me id get justice ,instead I got robbed again .
Sheila and Claire were extremely helpful throughout my process
Both of them contacted and advised me and I would absolutely positively recommend them to anyone going through legal matters
Shiela Sweat and, later, Anita Abraham were great. They were professional, knowledgeable and available. The best thing I can say is that they provided peace of mind in dealing with a very difficult situation which was resolved to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend this firm.

Matt, thank you so much for the kind words! It was a pleasure meeting and helping you. I’m really glad to hear you had a great experience with us. We always aim to make the process a little less stressful and provide some peace of mind, so it means a lot to know we delivered. Wishing you and your family all the best moving forward!
- Shiela and the Sweat Law Team
I do not recommend Sweat Law Firm based on my personal experience. Communication was extremely poor, responses were delayed or nonexistent, and there was a consistent lack of professionalism throughout my case. I was billed even for basic, routine communication, and much of that communication did not result in meaningful progress on my case.
As far as the paralegal involvement goes, I honestly have no words. The level of professionalism and support I experienced was extremely disappointing.
I was also billed for work that was never completed or never clearly explained, which caused unnecessary stress and financial strain. I strongly advise anyone considering this firm to carefully review all billing statements, ask detailed questions in writing, and research any complaints filed with the Florida Bar before signing anything. Please be aware when an attorney answers every single complaint against her office, but all the complaints seem to be similar. Those are indeed red flags.
Legal representation should involve transparency, accountability, and clear communication—none of which were consistently provided in my experience.

Kimbria,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not align with your expectations.

At Sweat Law, we take professionalism, ethics, and transparency very seriously. We have never been disciplined by the Florida Bar, and we remain committed to operating in full compliance with all ethical and professional standards governing the practice of law.

While we cannot discuss the specifics of your case in a public forum due to confidentiality obligations, we can note generally that our firm offers both full representation and limited-scope services. In some instances, misunderstandings arise when a limited-scope engagement is retained, but expectations extend beyond what was agreed upon. For example, proceeding directly to trial requires full representation, extensive preparation, and significant resources, and it is not reasonable or feasible under a limited-scope arrangement with a minimal initial fee.

Our firm is transparent about these limitations from the outset to ensure clients can make informed decisions about their representation. Our scope of representation, billing practices, and communication expectations are clearly outlined in our retainer agreement and are regularly communicated to our clients throughout the representation. All billing is tied to work performed in accordance with those agreed-upon terms.

We understand that legal matters are often stressful, and misunderstandings can occur when expectations differ. We appreciate feedback such as this, as it allows us to continually evaluate and improve our processes.

We wish you the best moving forward.

Sincerely,

Shiela Sweat, and the Sweat Law Team
I would like to take this time to show my appreciation for Shiela Sweat and the entire Sweat Law staff. My case is still ongoing; however, I wanted to express my gratitude for the support I’ve received thus far. Family law matters are never easy, and you truly need an attorney who is empathetic, compassionate, and trustworthy. From my experience, Shiela Sweat is all of these things and more.
As a single mom of three, the financial burden of a family law case can be overwhelming. Shiela Sweat understood this and was incredibly understanding and willing to work with me, which meant more than she could ever know. Any time I had a concern and brought it to her attention, it was addressed and resolved immediately. Her dedication and responsiveness have made a difficult situation much easier to navigate.
Once my case is complete, I plan to come back and update this review to reflect my full experience with Sweat Law.
Thank you, Shiela & Sweat Law Team!
Loved working with Sweat Law and the whole firm! They were very professional, knowledgeable, and able to answer all my questions. Anita was also very helpful and I would recommend this firm to anyone who needs assistance!
Sweat Law provides outstanding legal services in the area of family law. Attorney Abraham embodies the firm’s commitment to excellence, combining deep legal knowledge with compassion, professionalism, and integrity.I highly recommend Sweat Law to anyone seeking experienced, compassionate, and results-driven representation in family law matters.
I hired Sheila Sweat on June 30, 2025, for a motion for financial relief. I did not receive the documents to sign until Aug 5, 2025. 5 weeks later. In which, I had to call in to remind them to send them.
My experience has been unbelievable to say the least
Unprofessional conduct and mismanagement
Neglect of representation
Neglect of duty
Conflict of interest
Closed during a scheduled appointment then redirected to a third party to drop off legal confidential documents.
Unethical and excessive billing practices. High hourly rates for minimal work. Sheila Sweats firm charged $2,000 retainer on phone calls and sending documents. She is now demanding $3,500 before filing documents and preceding with the case. Kind of ironic, since my reasons for hiring her were for financial stress and burdens.
There have been several reviews claiming a similar experience.
It would be wise to do thorough research before hiring this firm.

Ms. Lavin, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m truly sorry to hear that your time working with our firm did not meet your expectations. We take feedback seriously, as it helps us continue improving the way we serve our clients.

For clarity, you did not retain our office to prepare any Motions. You retained us to pursue an initial family law case. Your documents were prepared shortly after you retained. We scheduled multiple appointments with you to sign them in person, per your request, and unfortunately you were a no call no show twice, which contributed to the delay. Additionally, there has never been a conflict of interest in any part of our representation. Further, the hourly rate that we charge is on the lower end of industry standards, and we structure our hourly rate on the low end to remain an affordable option to our clients. Our goal is always to be as flexible and supportive as possible, especially when clients are experiencing financial strain. We often offer payment plans to help reduce the upfront burden of legal costs, something not many firms are able to do. However, when payments on a retainer plan are delayed or missed, it can unfortunately cause delays in case preparation and filing, as outlined in our retainer agreement.

As for your concern about leaving financial documents with a third party, the individual you mentioned is our accountant, a trusted member of our professional team who is bound by confidentiality and works closely with us to maintain proper financial handling.

We understand that legal matters can already be stressful, and we never want our clients to feel unsupported. Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly so we can review your concerns together and work toward a resolution that provides clarity and peace of mind.
Shiela and the Sweat Law Team❤️
