Bret R. Smith failed to produce a mediation agreement that could withstand judicial review. The agreement drafted during mediation, which included the basic forms used to calculate child support, was later overturned by the court. The judge specifically referenced the “glaring errors” made by Mr. Smith as the reason for overturning the order. Because the order was overturned, the entire process—at a cost of approximately $10,000—was rendered ineffective. Mediation is meant to resolve disputes, not create additional problems. The lack of legal accuracy and attention to detail resulted in extra litigation and expenses that could have been avoided. I attempted to contact Mr. Smith and his secretary at The Browne House Law Group multiple times but received no response. I would not use Bret Smith again and do not recommend him for mediation or legal services.
