So knowledgable, ruthless, efficient, kind, and pretty! Helped with my divorce and some other boy-related matters. Best personality and an expert at law.

I was referred to Kate by others in a similar custody situation. She was so absolutely personable and easy to talk to, and was an expert in her specialties. I also really appreciated how easy her firm was to work with and the ways you are able to submit material remotely with ease.
I have never felt more taken care than from Mrs. Ryan. She is thorough, professional, and exceptionally knowledge!! She walked me through my divorce process and beyond!

I see Katherine's reponse to my prior review and I have to give it her, she sure knows how to spin a story that does not resemble what happened. She made sure to get every dime from me that she could and yet did nhot fight to get any spousal support when it was sorely needed nor help with paying her bills. I spent thousands paying her to go to status conferences in front of the judge and making excuses for why my case was stuck in limbo for a year. She always blamed the other lawyer and kept telling me I am not entitled to much of anything. Thankfully, I was able to work with the other lawyer on my own and came to a settlement that was approximately 8-10 times more than what she advised me to settle for (when I was having trouble affording her bills). The other attorney worked out a deal with me that she could not get, I was never rude or disrespectful to any of her staff and my iteractions were almost exclusively with her. I have the emails and text exchanges to back me up. I do not appreciate her mischaracterizations of me. I also have it in writing where I told her that I was going to share my expereinces with her publicly, as I wish I had seen before hiring her. I am sticking to the facts of my situation and how she rarely discussed what was next, strategy, advice or much else. Our conversations were mostly all about how the other attorney was the issue and that she did not feel I was likely to get spousal support or help with legal fees. She was proven very wrong as evidenced by the settlement I reached with the other lawyer. The proof is in the pudding, so they say. I offered her a settlement on the balance owed and instead of accepting it, she chose to hire another laywer and I would be surpried if she put a penny more in her pocket with what I settled with him for rather than accept my very fair offer weeks ago. She seems to be very upset that I have shared my experiences with her here and in person with quite a few people, If she had wanted a glowing review or no review, she should have looked out for her client and treated me humanely and with professionalism. She was dismissive and rude to me on the regular and I am not her only client who has felt that way. On my last day at the courthouse, I spoke with one of her clients who shared with me her discontent as well so I know I am not alone in feeling this way about her. It is sad that I am actually grateful that she dumped me when I ran out of money to pay her. She was not even trying to get me near as much as I ended up working out with the other lawyer who ended up being not like she had said he was. She seems to like blaming others for her shortfalls.

We had the unfortunate need to hire Kate, who turned a very difficult time into a blessing. Kate made sure that my daughters custody situation was handled properly, professionally and expedited as well as can be expected with the way our court system works. Her assistant Emma and Kate became a confident source for my daughter to rely on during the difficult and stressful journey. Calls, emails and texts were always answered promptly. Kate explained what to expect from the beginning of the case and what she laid out is pretty much the way it went down. I am sure each case is completely different and she was able to recall details immediately that pertained to us specifically. I would highy recommend The Law Office of Katherine Ryan to friends and family that have to suffer thru one of the most difficult times of their lives. Promises made, promises delivered!

My experience with Catherine Ryan was that she is an excellent fighter when she is worrying about her own pocket and isn't so worried about a client's well being. I hired her and paid the retainer and many thousands more. I urged her to try to collect further fees from my then estranged husband. I also kept asking if it was possible to get spousal support as I was in financial difficulties with paying so much to get divorced.y previous attorney was expensive and made a large financial mistake that I was lucky to catch (approximately 150k error) which was why I needed to hire a second attorney and pay another retainer for her to learn my case. She kept blowing off my requests to get relief through the court but was tough on collecting from me. With a then upcoming status conference, she told me she would not attend if I didn't come up with the complete balance owed. My divorce was in its third year at this point and it should have been simple as I already bought him out of the house and there were no minor children. I came up with most of it and she accepted that, or so I thought. She went to court "representing me" and informed the judge and other attorney that she and I were parting ways. She had not told me this at all. She discussed settling the divorce with the other attorney without discussing strategy or details with me and without disclosure that she wanted out. I asked her not to withdraw because I could not come up with a retainer for another lawyer. She said if I didn't agree and sign the papers, she would go to court and get the judge's approval anyway. I asked her to just finish my case since it was near the end and she could get paid from the settlement. She refused. She agreed not to bill for that last appearance since she failed to tell me that she wouldn't represent me but now she has added that onto the balance owed. I have offered her a settlement of the balance but she spent money on a lawyer rather than work it out. That left me for the last 6 months before the trial without representation and very stressed at an already stressful time. She had recommended I accept almost $200k less than I negotiated for myself. She did me a favor by not continuing to represent me, but I didn't know that at the time. I was scared and felt completely at the mercy of the system against a professional attorney that my ex could afford to pay. She got me no spousal support during the separation despite my requests that she try because it was sorely needed. I obviously do not recommend her.

Unfortunately, I was compelled to terminate my representation of Diana due to her abusive behavior towards my staff and her persistent rudeness towards me.
Diana's inability to control her temper led me to end several phone calls abruptly.
Despite her baseless accusations of my incompetence, she still requested that I continue to represent her, which I firmly declined. Following the notification that her outstanding invoice must be paid, she resorted to threats of leaving a negative review. My office upholds the highest standards of professionalism, and I expect mutual respect from all clients. I wish Diana the best in her future endeavors and hope her treatment of her subsequent attorneys and their staff was more appropriate.

Choosing Kate to be my lawyer was the best decision I made . It was incredibly difficult since I had just gave birth and have two small kids. She got me through the worst of it and put things into perspective for me . She was extremely efficient, always got back to me in timely manner and was very honest through out it all . She has a lot of experience and is always on point, she doesn’t miss a beat . This is your lawyer if you need one . I highly recommend her. I’m so grateful that I had her as my attorney .

I had a consult with Ms. Ryan on a case. Unfortunately, she wouldn't be able to represent me as her specialty is not what I needed, but she was very helpful, giving me advice on who to call and providing examples. This was a consultation, but helpful.

We consulted with Katherine Ryan twice for a divorce case. During the second consult (as well as the first) she stated the retainer fees would be $10k. In the second consult she even noted that she wouldn't go any lower than $10k, because "that's what she charges everyone." So imagine the surprise weeks later when I reach out to her to hire, and we received the request for $20k in retainer fees by email. I called the next day to inquire why the amount changed, and her response included the "complexity" of the case and the "financial history." Well, both those things were thoroughly explained and elaborated on, in detail, before the end of the consult when we asked her how much it would be. I also don't see how that's logically consistent with charging everyone the same fee, either. She responded on the phone that our notes for the consult are different and that she has $20k written down, but that she would honor the 10k agreement and send the revision out within 1-2 hrs. Well, never received that. Instead roughly 2 hrs later received an email including she's declining to work with us because "your past negative reviews of other businesses are concerning to me." It's interesting that the negative review for the prior attorney fired only became relevant after we requested to be charged the amount for the retainer that was agreed on. Besides the fact that it's an unusual reason (that really, makes no sense), Katherine was also aware of what took place with that attorney by the first consult. Curious how, nothing was conveniently a problem, until right after we asked to be charged the appropriate amount. It's not a difference of "notes," by the way. The consults were also recorded. Yet she chose to double down, and proceed in this manner, without even so much as an acknowledgment that what happened was wrong. People can only make informed decisions about services when they have the information to do so, and that's why I think reviews are important. There's more I could say, but this is long enough. Readers are capable of drawing their conclusions based on the facts mentioned here

At my office, we promote a positive environment and require clients and staff to interact professionally. We also require adherence to our office policies, which include a strict no-recording policy. This policy is in place to protect the confidentiality of our communications.

Unfortunately, during this consultation, our policies were not adhered to by the potential client and as such, I refused the business.

I appreciate that you were disappointed by the complexity of your case and my opinion regarding the funds that will be required of you to obtain adequate representation.

In the future, I am hopeful you will respect the advice and requirements of any attorney’s office you may choose to represent you.

I am, unfortunately, not the first attorney targeted by this potential client’s google account and am glad to have avoided any further interaction under the circumstances.

Katherine and her associate Nick are truly exceptional in what they do. They are professional, extremely diligent, thorough, very knowledgeable and come very prepared to court when representing their clients. When I laid out to them about a change of child visitation modification, they went in with a plan and stuck to it. Katherine has a very diligent associate in Nick who represented me while Katherine was on maternity leave. Nick kept Katherine informed while she was on maternity leave and Katherine made herself available when needed even though she had a new born to take care of. This clearly shows that she is dedicated to her clients and her business. Being a highly competent divorce attorney, I highly recommend Katherine Ryan and her team.
