Gretchen is the Best of the Best!!! 🙏🏽 Again.
I can’t thank Katherine and the team at Wagner Hughes, LLC enough for what they did for my family. Losing our mother because of nursing home neglect was one of the hardest things we’ve ever gone through. Katherine stood by me and my sister every step of the way — she was patient, compassionate, and worked tirelessly on our case. Because of her dedication, we were able to find some justice and peace. No amount of money can ever bring our mother back, but this gives us the chance to do things in her memory and honor her life. We are forever grateful for Katherine’s kindness and determination to seek justice for our mom.
If I could give a zero, I would. If you want an attorney with trial experience, this is not the attorney for you. Gretchen told me 3 years into working on my dad's nursing home neglect case that she has never gone to trial on these types of cases. If she would have told me that from the beginning, I never would have hired her. She has spent 3 years on this case telling me that Pruitt didn't have insurance and trying to get me to settle. I know now that it's because she doesn't know how to win at trial. She has done more to protect Pruitt Nursing home than she has to protect my dad. Pruitt has insurance with a company in the Cayman Island, which is suspicious. But why said they didn't. She told me that it takes Pruitt 6 months to pay out on a lawsuit because they don't have insurance and have to pay out of a special fund. Why would they have to do that if they have insurance? I recorded the conversations where she said it but she's denying it. The other day was the last straw when she said, "Poor Pruitt inherited this case." Poor Pruitt? Not poor Mr. Jones? We initially went to mediation and because she failed to explain how mediation actually worked, she later said that if she had known that I was going to stand firm on the amount that I wanted, she wouldn't have wasted time with the mediation. Well, that was her fault. If she had properly explained how it works, I would have told her not to waste time, especially my time. I was in cancer treatments then. She has perfected the ability to get clients to settle for less instead of honing in on her trial skills. She keeps saying that Pruitt won't pay this or that amount but how would she know if she's never been to trial? She also said that Pruitt has good causation and they could win based off of that. I had to learn from a much better attorney that causation means nothing if the jury sees a close family unit fighting for justice for their loved one. You would think that Pruitt pays Gretchen the way she defends them. On a family webinar 3 years into this case, she told my siblings that they could still get another attorney if they wanted to. That's the worst advice I've ever heard from an attorney in the middle of a case that has been ongoing for 3 years. She should have just admitted that she didn't think she could win the case. I told her that I would be reaching out to the Bar Association and she responded by withdrawing from the case and is now trying to place a lien on the last amount she tried to negotiate on. I even spoke to another attorney that turned out to be a very close friend of hers and that was around a year into the case and he even said there is no way that Gretchen believes that they don't have insurance because how could they do business without it? Why would I have discussed that with him if I hadn't been told that they don't have insurance. If you call Pruitt today, they will say the exact same stuff - "We don't carry insurance. If there is a problem, you would have to report us to the Secretary of State." I called the Secretary of State and they said they don't do that. So you see who I'm dealing with? Gretchen never even advised me to file a complaint with Dept. of Human Services or anyone else. She's a lump on a log, who is used to getting clients to accept settlements so that she doesn't have to work hard but still gets to walk away with a large chunk of money and her clients walk away with chump change. Do your research because there are attorney out there willing to actually work hard to get the best number possible for their clients/families. Once I get my new lawyer, I will make sure to revisit and list his name. No person/family should have to go through this mess after losing their loved one so horrifically.

Mrs. Hughes represented my mom and me in the case for my dad, after another law firm told me we didn't have a case. After I told her my story she went to work and she fought for us and she got way more than we expected. Wagner Hughes are professional good people.I will recommend them to anyone that has a case ,they will work and find details that you didn't even know about for the won. They are the best and I am so grateful for them.❤ #KateHughesRockz

My time with Mrs Wagner was outstanding from beginning to end. She was understanding, caring and was genuinely concerned about my mom and our family. She was very helpful and she kept us updated with everything. She explained in detailed and made sure I understood what we was going on. She spent a lot of time with my family and even though our business had come to an end, we are still good friends, today. She goes above and beyond, she does her job and does it well. I appreciate her very much, and my family couldn't chose a better person for the job.

Attorney Kate has been really wonderful for my mother’s nursing home case. Me and my family highly recommends her if you have any concerns about something that happened in a nursing home. She will take the time to personally talk to you and keep you updated, she doesn’t have other staff do it for her, which I really appreciated after I had heard about that happening to a friend of ours.
Owner response
Thank you Stephen. It was a pleasure helping you and your family.
