I did not have a positive experience with this law firm. In my personal opinion, the services I received did not meet my expectations in terms of communication, clarity, or overall progress. Over several months, I felt there was limited movement on my matter.
Throughout the process, I found the communication style and organization to be less consistent than I had hoped for. I sometimes felt that updates were unclear or that I was not getting the level of support I needed. The experience left me feeling stressed and unsure about the direction of my case.
This review reflects only my personal perspective based on my own interactions. I would encourage anyone seeking legal services to consult with multiple firms, ask detailed questions, and choose the one that best fits their expectations and comfort level.
I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Jean Marie Harner. From the very beginning, she looked out for the child I share and what will be in our best interest. Despite of the challenges that my case had, Attorney Harner kept me grounded. She is truly amazing! If you're looking for an attorney, she is it! I promise you will not be disappointed.
Jean Marie is incompetent as they come. She can't get dates straight and does not communicate in a timely manner. She does everything she can to squeeze more money from you. Avoid her at all costs.

One of the most professional and helpful attorneys I have ever met. I’m grateful I found them and would highly recommend them, specifically Jean Harner.
Jean Harner was so kind and helpful. I initially filed my case pro se, and after a few court dates that did not go very well b/c the judge failed to provide me with the necessary information to complete my case. I hired Jean to represent me. She listened to me, and provided me with the information needed to complete the process. When my court date arrived we were prepared to prove up, and were able to finalize the process. I would definitely recommend Jean. Super nice, and helpful.

I called for a consultation for a custody case. Giving them the benefit of the doubt since I know lawyers are very busy, I gave them a week to respond, then called again when no one got back to me. After the consult, they agreed to take on my case. Once I decided to hire them, I called to have them send me the retainer agreement. I planned to call back a week later to remind them to email it to me, but I decided that if they can’t respond in a timely manner when I’m trying to pay them for a service I need, how would they handle my case? I’m very disappointed in their lack of professionalism and responsiveness and will NOT be recommending this law firm.

I called Abear law firm in a panic. I had received orders to be in court on a Friday and didn't get it in the mail until the Wednesday before at 5pm. Thursday morning I called and explained my situation, and Patty Fox took my case immediately, even knowing it was going to be quite difficult with how many details it entailed.
Patty has been absolutely amazing. She has been responsive and stood by my side and fought for me every step of the way in this case. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer, especially not being from or residing in IL.
The office is also great with payments and helping arrange payment plans as well!
You can't go wrong choosing Abear Law to represent you!

I’ve worked with Jean Marie Harner for several years, and I can’t say enough good things about her. Her dedication, attention to detail, and strategic thinking have been invaluable throughout the entire process.
Jean Marie is an extremely knowledgeable family law attorney who is very professional and of the highest integrity. She takes the time to listen, explain things clearly, and always approaches every situation with thoughtful care. No matter how complex things got, I always felt reassured I was in good hands.
She genuinely cares about her clients. She’s responsive, well-prepared, and always looking out for your best interest. I can’t recommend her enough, she’s who you want to go with when you’re facing a challenging situation.
I Have had some poor representation in the past for my divorce and custody. I came across Abear Law a few years ago, when I needed help with post divorce and custody issues. Tony put forth a plan of action in detail on how he would handle this issue. No wasting of time with continuances. Issues were resolved with no surprises. He recently made time to talk and advise on how to handle the sale of my house and protect proceeds from the sale, until I could reinvest it. Again, he had a plan for me. My only regret is I didn’t know about Abear law sooner. I would have had them handle my divorce so there wasn’t so many post divorce issues.
