I can’t recommend Balestra Webb Law enough. Nick and Melanie both being nurse practitioners gives them a unique understanding of the incredibly complex legal landscape for "independent" NP practice in California, including the nuances of professional nursing corporations vs. medical corporation/MSO structures. I primarily work with Nick. He’s incredibly responsive by email, thoughtful, and very kind. Initially, he helped ensure that my supervising physician arrangements / standardized procedures were fully compliant. My practice structure and scope is fairly complex given that I’ve worked across several specialties over the past nine years, and his guidance has been invaluable. Nick has also been great about explaining some of the “unspoken rules” and regulatory nuances related to the BRN and broader practice structure issues. Based on those discussions, he advised transitioning to a Medical Corporation/MSO structure. This was especially important since Anthem and Blue Shield of California will not contract with a nursing corporation, which unfortunately limits patient access otherwise. The turnaround has also been impressive. Within about a week of providing the required documents, the MSO was formed, and the Medical Corporation should be finalized shortly after. Nick is always willing to answer smaller questions without nickel-and-diming clients, and he was also generous enough to offer me a significant discount as a returning client planning to work with them long term. While I haven’t worked as directly with Melanie, I know she has been involved in communications with CANP and BRN and has been advocating for nurse practitioners for many years. As a profession, we’re very fortunate to have attorneys like Nick and Melanie supporting NP practice in California. Highly recommend. Thank you!!
