I recently reached out to this business in regards to removing one name from a property deed. I was referred to a freshman lawyer at this firm. She was stuck in the mode of the due on sale clause involving mortgages and change in ownership. I explained clearly that I am not on the original mortgage. Also, I made clear that the one remaining individual on the deed is the original and only mortgage holder for the property. In fact, a local attorney practicing since 2001 and a graduate of Georgetown University advised me via email that the due on sale clause is not applicable to me. A second lawyer practicing Real Estate since 2008 advised me via email stating that I am not on the mortgage, the clause is not applicable to my situation. Of course, I presented proof of this email exchange to this business, as expected, they did not respond. Out of 57 Google reviews, the business has a total of 19% negative reviews (a total of 11 negative reviews).
Save your time and choose a better law firm. They will not return your calls. The receptionist Kim will pick up the phone and hang up or just not answer your calls at all. Kim is very dismissive and rude. Very poor customer service when we are already dealing with a hard time.
I was nervous about the home closing process but the team patiently answered all of my many questions and explained all the documents in a way I could actually understand. I was never made to feel like just another file. They handled everything with such professionalism and care, which made the closing day go incredibly smoothly. I am so grateful for their help and would recommend them to anyone for a real estate closing.
Choosing an attorney is a very personal and one of the most important and expensive decisions you will ever make. I can only give my experience with this firm and hope it helps someone in making a decision.
Upon our first meeting with a partner and another attorney, we were advised they would take our case. We were paired with an attorney who was fairly new and inexperienced in the type of case we had, unbeknownst to us. Communication was extremely poor and very few of our questions were answered, emails not responded to, and phone calls seldomly returned. We had done a lot of the background work and submitted documentation, and we were told by our attorney, “you’re making my job easier” and “you’ve done a lot of my work”, but after almost a year, we were no further along than when we started, but $10,000 poorer with very little answers to the valid questions we had. There were documents and interrogatories submitted to the court that we found ourselves by going to the Manatee County Court website that we were never told about or given to us by our attorney. We were always told by this attorney, “I’ll have to ask “so and so” to find out an answer to that question, only to never get our answer. It was only after a new partner started, eight months after we started, that we had some of our questions answered. By then, for us it was too late. All through the process we were told by our attorney we had a strong case. In our opinion, by saying that, the firm was able to bill us more money to string us along. In disgust, we eventually dropped our case. We had very poor counsel and I would never use this firm again, nor would I recommend due to our experience with them. We take responsibility for not dropping them sooner, but that does not justify their poor service.
Owner response
We are sincerely sorry that the experience of the Fabricius family with our firm was a source of frustration and did not meet the standard of service we are committed to providing. The concerns raised about communication were taken very seriously and acted upon decisively. Otherwise, the attorney-client privilege and the legal ethics rules prevent us from making any further statements, even if we disagree with the facts alleged or omitted.
We used hem about five years ago, had a great experience. We need an attorney’s advice now, and have tried to get an appointment three ways (phone call, stopped in the office, and did a request through their web page). Zero response every time.
We had a great experience with Barnes Walker in our a family real-estate transaction. We had originally contacted another law firm who seemed unexcited about our transaction, I think their preference was to work only with agents. A friend recommended we called Barnes Walker, and they jumped in from day one, walked us through the process of a "for sale by owner" to a family member, and treated us professionally and with great communication throughout the process. Further, they did so for a reasonable price and in a timely manner. Kudos to Mr. Walker, Attorney Lauren R., and closing officer/branch manager Cindy G. for their expertise and customer-driven service. 10/10, would recommend.
Spoke with secretary/operator and legal assistant and was told I would receive a call back in the morning three days later and no response. Guess I’ll take my retainer elsewhere!
I have had many closings with Barnes Walker over my 20+ year real estate career. Everyone from front desk to closing table are professional and helpful. I always feel my customers are well taken care of.
The Barnes Walker Parrish office is a perfect location for closings North of the River. The staff Kathi Durrance and Alice Robertson are top notch professionals and deliver excellent service. I highly recommend.
