“Filing for bankruptcy is never easy. There are a lot of steps we never thought about. I guess we just thought that Beutler would "hold our hands" through all the steps. I, at least, thought that. We pay the fees every month, but we are apparently responsible for; getting the title of our vehicle after the bankruptcy was complete, (I'm currently sitting on hold with the credit union.) This law firm will not "affirm" to our mortgage company we want to keep our home. (We were told Beutler won't file that in court in our state of Utah.) So we can't make payments online for our home. The worst part is my disabled veteran needs adaptions to our home, but we'll never get that "$0 balance owed statement" we need to start making construction happen for the Veterans Administration. Ask questions from your attorney before you sign any paperwork and do not settle for "We'll figure that out later." Know what you need before you agree to services. Very disappointed. Very frustrated.”
New one-star review 02/21/2026. After speaking with my bank, we were able to get the title to the vehicle. I was able to prove we paid all the “corporate advance fees” to our mortgage company. The mortgage statements proved we paid all their fees, so our building can start before my husband is stuck in a wheelchair. But now new “corporate advance fees” stating we are STILL in bankruptcy and they need a discharge. My husband paid all the attorney fees, but this law firm still won’t help us end this nightmare. The worst part is my disabled veteran husband, and I have medical bills piling up from the painful stress of being charged thousands of dollars in legal fees through our mortgage company. We can't get new windows for our 21-year-old home because the bankruptcy ruined my credit. My dog needed emergency surgery and again, denied credit because of the bankruptcy that I NEVER FILED, BUT BECAUSE I AM COSIGNER ON THE HOME, I’M LABLED AS IN BANKRUPTCY. Again, I say, ask questions from your attorney before you sign any paperwork and do not settle for "We'll figure that out later." Know what you need before you agree to services. It's time to look elsewhere for solutions. I can't keep paying fees on a bankruptcy that was supposed to be discharged months ago.
Owner response
Amy,

Typically we recommend clients not to do a reaffirmation agreement on their home after a chapter 7 case. However, if you would like to please call my office and we can talk about your options.

Thanks,
Derek
Since my first phone call with this firm I have felt supported the entire time. It was no question that I wanted to have them support me through a difficult decision. They have not let me feel embarrassed or ashamed for even one second about having to file bankruptcy. They are patient and willing to explain things as many times as needed until it makes sense and doesn't feel so overwhelming.
Derek and his team - Braxton and Cameron have been nothing short of a blessing in one of the hardest chapters of my life. Every single time I called, they were patient, reassuring, and genuinely cared about helping me understand each step. They made something that once felt terrifying feel manageable… even hopeful.
I truly wish I had reached out sooner. I spent so long feeling completely stuck, working so hard, doing everything I could, but still drowning because of past financial mistakes that kept catching up to me. It felt like no matter how much I tried, I’d never get ahead. And that kind of weight… it takes a toll on you emotionally, mentally, and financially.
But now? For the first time in a long time, I finally feel like I can breathe again. I feel hopeful. I feel relieved. I feel like I’ve been given a real second chance at life - a restart that I honestly didn’t think was possible for me. And that would not have happened without Derek and his amazing team.
This process has been life-changing. I’m excited about my future again. I’m ready to rebuild, to move forward, and to start truly living without the constant heaviness I’ve been carrying for years.
If you’re even thinking about filing bankruptcy, please don’t wait as long as I did. I cannot recommend Derek and his team at Beular Law enough. They gave me hope when I had none, and I am forever grateful. Best, Jane Reid <3
Cannot say enough about Beutler Law! Would having given 10 stars if I could!! They are all absolutely amazing!! and I mean amazing!! Zero hassle through my bankruptcy I filed Chapter 13 and it was very stressful and I had a lot of questions through this process and they answered all my questions and everytime I called them with something they were very professional and super super nice and informative I am referring to Shelly, Cameron, and TJ that answer the phone calls and Derrick my lawyer they have been just absolutely amazing through this I would recommend anyone if they are in a tough spot financially to reach out to Beutler Law and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all at Beutler law that helped me with this tough time
These guys are great I would recommend them to anyone seriously, they’ve helped every step of the way and answered my questions with upmost confidence and professionalism. They are great :)
Beutler Law made an overwhelming process feel manageable. Derek and the entire team were incredibly kind, patient, and supportive from the very first phone call. They explained everything clearly, guided me step-by-step, and always made me feel heard. I especially appreciated how quickly they moved once all documents were submitted — the process was efficient, organized, and far less stressful than I expected. I’m truly grateful for their professionalism and compassion. Highly recommended.
This team of wonderful people were excellent at answer my constant questions and were so kind and easy to talk to. I was able to easily file and would recommend them to everyone. They really do care and take care of the people.
Thank you Braxton and Mr Beutler and everyone else who i talked and worked with
I went through these guys to file for bankruptcy about 5 years ago and they made the process so easy for me. But the most impressive part is that all these years later, they were able to provide me with documentation on the bankruptcy without any trouble at all. If you’re going through a hard time and thinking about bankruptcy, hire these guys. Their fee is more than reasonable, and they will make doing a hard thing very easy.
My husband and I looked for a bankruptcy lawyer for a few weeks and no one would call us back. Derek is the first one to call us back shortly after we left a message. He has been very communicative and explained everything so that we understood what would take place. He answered any question we had and did not rush us and was very nice over the phone. I can’t recommend him enough!
