I’ve been working with Black & Jones in Rockford, IL for 8+ months with no success obtaining treatment—still no MRI despite a physician referral. Initially told it was due to a “bad video angle,” then Tracy Jones claimed the footage was clear, contradicting her associates claim, and also my account. They’ve ignored my emails and my ongoing injuries. I strongly advise anyone needing a Workmen’s Comp attorney to avoid them—they won’t fight for your treatment or compensation.
Owner response
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We are truly sorry to hear that you feel your questions and injuries have been ignored—that is never the experience we want for any client.
After reviewing your file, we do want to clarify one important point: every email and communication we received from you was responded to promptly, including days when multiple messages were sent. We strive to ensure that our clients always receive timely updates, even when circumstances limit the outcome they hope for.
Regarding medical treatment, we understand how difficult it is to wait for care when you are in pain. Unfortunately, in workers’ compensation cases, treatment decisions and authorizations are controlled by the law and the insurance carrier—not by our office. While we advocate as strongly as possible, there are times when the legal process restricts what can be obtained and how quickly it can happen. We know that can be incredibly frustrating, and we regret that we were not able to meet your expectations within those legal constraints.
We remain committed to advocating for every client within the scope of the law, and we value the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly. If you would like to talk, we welcome you to contact our office.
I had to call to get status for my case all the time. One and a half years of frustration. I believe they didn’t work for me. The settlement was not what I should have received. They didn’t fight for me at all. Tracy was rude and condescending towards me. I’m so upset, depressed and will never be healthy again. I do not recommend them at all. I trusted them and they obviously didn’t care. I never met with them, talked on phone a couple times. They got their 20% for fee and it’s regrettable that I will never be healthy again.

Ms. Harris, I am sorry to see your review. I am sure that it has been difficult dealing with the injury and your condition. We strive to do the best we can for each client, including you. Throughout our time representing you, we had multiple communications and you were always welcome to come in for appointments rather than communicate via email or phone. I am sorry you regret not taking us up on that offer. I will keep this in mind and recommend it more strongly to clients in the future to avoid similar regrets. I am sure you are still dealing with your underlying situation and that has made it difficult for you. But please recall that we did present you with several options as to how you could move forward with your case. Ultimately we had to follow your instructions when you elected to settle the case. I hope that one day you do not regret your own decision. I truly wish you the best in the future.
Black and Jones law firm gave me a wonderful experience between emails, paperwork, and working with their attorneys and office staff as well. Stephanie Siebold, who helped with my court date, was extremely helpful. The court date, in my opinion, went very well and was actually the easiest part of the entire application for disability process. Stephanie was so knowledgeable, very familiar with my case, and asked all of the important questions during the hearing, so that way the vocational specialist and the judge understood my situation and disabilities. The judge and vocational specialist/doctor didn't have to question me a bunch on their own.
I had tried to find an attorney and law office to help me on my own, but did not have good luck finding an office who would take my case. Atticus was also a huge help and blessing to me to help connect me with Black and Jones. Although they are located in Illinois and I am in Wisconsin and I did not get the opportunity to meet them, the experience was still phenomenal and I would highly recommend both Black and Jones Attorneys at Law and Atticus online who matched me with the right law firm for me, who specializes in cases like mine.
I opted for the hearing to do it on the phone only, over in person or zoom. I felt the most comfortable with them being unable to see me. The judge who lead my hearing was located in Michigan as well. He was very polite and friendly and this was expected.
Thanks again.
I had a workman comp case started with this law firm and in the end I'm glad I chose another firm.

I am sorry to see your review. We are proud of the fact that we were able to get your case accepted forced the insurance company to pay all the benefits they were required to under the law when we represented you 6 years ago. It is unfortunate that you felt our efforts were not to your expectation. I hope things continued well for you and wish you the best in the future.
They did a great job helping me get my disability they kept me updated every step of the way and answered all of my questions when I asked it was my first experience with a lawyer office and it was a great one
In October of 2022 I sustained a spinal cord injury that put me on long term disability until November of 2024. I applied for SSDI as I did not know if I would be able to return to work. Black & Jones handled every step of the process. After several major surgeries and a year of PT, I was able to return to full time employment. Black & Jones ultimately won my SSDI case and I was awarded SSDI benefits for the period I was disabled. They were amazing to work with, especially during a very difficult time for myself and my family.

While we try to help as many people as we can pursue disability, sometimes it is just not the right fit. I am happy that you found someone to work with you. We wish you the best in the future!
Where to even begin? I was referred to Black and Jones by another Atty.
After my initial consultation with Ms Jones , I had the pleasure of talking with several different individuals throughout the firm during what felt like a lifetime of two very long years.
The attention to detail and the explanations I received from every single person , honestly it was EXEMPLARY……
This process can be very intimidating and daunting , no matter how many questions I had , they were all met with nothing but kindness and care .
Thankfully at the end of the above mentioned two years , SUCCESS for myself and the firm was achieved!!!
HIGHLY recommend contacting them if you find any of your needs in the long list of their expertises and more than compatible Attorneys, Associates, and office staff.
THANK YOU is not even an adequate statement.
5 stars for sure ….worth the wait

Thank you very much for trusting us with your case. It was truly our pleasure to help you!
I had an excellent experience with Black and Jones Disability Lawyers. From the start, their team was professional, compassionate, and dedicated to helping me with my case. They took the time to thoroughly understand my situation and guided me through the entire process with clear communication and support. The lawyers were always available to answer my questions and kept me informed every step of the way. Thanks to their expertise and hard work, we were able to achieve a successful outcome and win the case. I highly recommend Black and Jones to anyone in need of disability legal assistance.
