During Case
Today I spent time leaving messages with five different law firms, waiting for a callback. The only callback I received was from Blasser law. My biggest complaints are: *Bill disappeared for 7 days leading up to my court date. I called everyday, 5 days in a row and did not hear back until finally I demanded to know where he was from his receptionist and left her a message that I needed to know where my case stood. Lo and behold, I received an email from Bill minutes later and the draft agreement I had been waiting days for another 30 minutes later. *Bill took a retainer of $3,500 for my case. My case was a simple increased visitation case. I did all the work discussing and compromising with my son's mother split physical custody arrangements and outlining to Bill our agreement. Bill took my entire $3,500 retainer. *$1,000 of costs for Bill's "work" consisted of him having to go to court for a hearing on 7/2/19 which made no sense due to the fact that I have a signed court order for our new custody agreement dated 6/28/19. I don't know if this court hearing was real. It may have been Bill's way of covering up his shoddy last minute work. Either way, I wasn't notified prior to this court hearing and given any options (I could have drove to the courthouse myself and saved $1,000 and asked why my signed 6/28 court orders were having issues). What is worse is that $525 of these costs are for Bill's drive time to court! I would understand paying a $350 hourly rate for extensive legal work requiring expertise but not for drive time.
Owner response
Mr. Salazar. your statements about my disappearing for 7 days leading up to your court date are not true. Your statement about calling every day for 5 days in a row and left messages is also untrue. What is true is that you did call one day when I was in court, my receptionist then informed you that I was in court, and you then yelled at her demanding that I speak with you that day. After you did this, I did send you an email providing you an update once I was done with the court hearing that day (primarily to make sure you did not call to yell at anyone else).

You correctly note that you deposited a $3,500 retainer for your dispute. Your statements suggesting I did “shoddy” work at the “last minute” are not true. The court had a hearing scheduled for 7/3/19 in your matter. I did all of the necessary paperwork well ahead of time and submitted it for filing with the Orange County Superior Court on 6/18/19. I also had a courtesy copy delivered to the department hearing your court room so the judge would know the stipulation and proposed order had been filed. Throughout all of this, I was always accessible to you and in contact with you. You noted this yourself when you sent me the following email on 6/19/19 stating, “Thank you Bill and thank you for your work on this. Are you going to notify me when this has been signed off and approved by the court?”

I called the court clerk several times to ask if your hearing was taken off calendar in light of the situation. The court clerk informed me the hearing was not taken off calendar and it would require an appearance on the hearing date. Our written fee agreement and every conversation we had (there were several) specifically required me to attend any court hearings, which I did to make sure your stipulation was processed and the order was signed by the judge. I did that as efficiently as possible and let you know exactly what happened after the hearing.

Your suggestion that “you don’t know if this hearing was real” is also not true. I provided you notice of the hearing well over month before it happened and specifically told you that you may need to attend the hearing yourself.

Finally, your comment mentions the time spent and the overall amount you were billed for the case. You fail to mention that the costs and fees exceeded the initial $3,500 you left as a retainer deposit by a significant amount and I agreed to write off all of those fees and not charge you for them.

You correctly note that you were charged an hourly rate and that it included time spent going to and from the court. That was specifically discussed, disclosed and laid out in the fee agreement that you signed.

William Blasser . Great lawyer , smart and kind . Don’t look else where , he is your guy. That’s the Harvey Specter of real life .
I highly recommend William "Bill" as a family attorney. He first assisted my brother about 5 years ago, and when we needed assistance again recently, we immediately turned to him due to the great experience. William once again did an outstanding job. He was professional, knowledgeable, and very supportive throughout the entire process. In court, his preparation and confidence were clear, and he made sure that my brother's side was strongly represented.
I had the pleasure of working with Mr Blasser with Blasser Law, a highly skilled divorce attorney in Claremont, during a complex divorce-related real estate transaction. From start to finish, Mr Blasser and his team were the definition of professionalism, patience, and expertise. Divorce can be both emotionally and legally challenging, but Bill’s deep knowledge of family law—combined with his compassionate approach—made a huge difference. He wasn’t just an excellent attorney; he was also a steady and reliable partner in helping the transaction move forward smoothly for everyone involved. His staff kept everyone updated throughout the process, communicating clearly and consistently. Their attention to detail helped take the stress out of coordinating the property division and legal agreements. Bill has a great way of making complex legal matters easy to understand, which was invaluable for my clients as they navigated a very difficult time. What impressed me most was Mr Blassers genuine care for his clients. He took the time to listen, offer thoughtful advice, and always prioritized their best interests. As a real estate professional, I’ve worked with many attorneys, but his expertise in handling divorce-related property transactions truly sets him apart. His team was equally fantastic—always responsive, professional, and kind—which made the entire process seamless. If you or someone you know is going through a divorce in Claremont or the surrounding areas, I wholeheartedly recommend Bill Blasser.
