We are so very thankful for Mr. Byron Lassiter. A lawyer friend of ours recommended him to help my brother who was appealing to the Social Security Administration to keep his disability benefits after being canceled due to a recent review. My brother was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, an astrocytoma in 2018 and has lived past the 3 – 5 years that the doctors initially thought he might. His MRIs recently have been stable (no new growth) and that is why SS was trying to cancel him. However, both of his doctors, his local doctor and UAB specialist said that significant damage was already done, the effects of the year of radiation and chemo have negatively impacted him, as well as the many side effects of the anti-seizure medicine he is on. Mr. Lassiter was amazing. My brother was not able to fill out the forms involved and communicate with Mr. Lassiter due to his cognitive and memory difficulties, so I was the person who filled out the necessary paperwork for him and communicated often with Mr. Lassiter. I was so impressed with how soon Mr. Lassiter would respond to my questions and help me do the things that were necessary for my brother’s case. We took his advice about how to word information and how to go about this process. My brother won his case, and we would not have been able to do that on our own. Mr. Lassiter will always be appreciated by our family and friends for the diligent work he did and his wonderful, compassionate personality in working with us. Diana Ringers
