I hired Justin Hastings for a contract dispute. I heard he was really good at litigating, I actually got to see it in person and am in awe, that guy is the real deal, absolutely awesome was very cool to witness him work.
I DEFINITELY do NOT recommend Castlebrook Law! Why: Poor communication, no explanation of what to expect, no updates on what happening or what has occurred. If you do speak to Mr Hastings, it takes weeks to get an audience w him. My divorce case is fairly simple and uncomplicated, however after over a year and a half of dragged out divorce proceedings and thousands of dollars later, I am getting no response from Mr Hastings and I find myself having to start over and hire a different attorney.

We appreciate your concerns. As always you have daily access to our attorney’s paralegals (which our records indicate you have been in contact with on a consistent basis). Our attorneys are in Court most days. You have been advised, as you have done in the past, to schedule a formal appointment with your attorney if you need speak with them directly pertaining to your matters.
This law firm was recommended by my realtor bit it turned out to be a bad experience! Especially Justin, after several attempts to get ahold of him, finally we were able to talk and he promised to draw a simple demand letter to a business that was holding our assets. After I provided him with the necessary information, he was supposed to send that letter. I have tried to get an answer form him via multiple emails and from his assistant over the phone several times but no response! Beware, they promised but never delivered!
To answer to your response, I have called you multiple times to ask about the status if he got the info I emailed to him, and nobody was able to get me the answer. Sent Justin 3 emails, no response!
You never sent me an agreement to begin with!
Owner response
We apologize if there is some sort of miscommunication. You do know until your retainer agreement is executed and your retainer is paid that lawyers will not commence work on your behalf. Neither of which has been completed.
I was represented by Justin in my divorce proceeding and found him to be friendly, funny and helpful. Despite paying more than I thought I would, I kept my pension, and essentially received full custody of my 4 minor children despite being married for 24 yrs. I'm not saying or trying to mislead anyone to believe that I got out unscathed but keeping a pension and getting custody of your children is not very common.
Justin litigated my divorce as well as he possibly could under the circumstances and I would highly recommend his law firm.
You get what you pay for.
I would not recommend Castlebrook Law or Justin if you are a father that wants a representation. Nothing else needs to be explained other than the experience was awful. My concerns were never addressed, didn’t seem he cared about the issues, and in the end I was just left with less money and zero resolve. Still being invoiced, and there is nothing in the invoice other than “we will reach out to collections.” Seek different representation of you are a father and it comes to family issues.
Terrible attorney. Never responds to questions about your case. When he has nickeled and dimmed you till you have nothing left he then sues you for not paying and add a couple thousand dollars for his pain and suffering! No not use this law firm. Alison Motta or Jeffery Leving will be a much better price comparison

Thank you Cody for leaving yet another review. I will handle this further you were already sent a cease and desist for harassment. See you tomorrow.
I had a fantastic experience working with Castlebrook Law. Bryan Sullivan was diligent, compassionate, and informative in his handling of my case while managing an unprofessional and non-communicative opposing counsel. The office staff was great, and everyone I worked with in the office was very responsive.
This place is complete trash. I was quoted $2,500.00 flat fee. There is no way Justin Hasting worked more than 8 hours on my case. I then get an invoice for an additional $4,000.00. $6,500.00 grand total for no more than 8 hours of work. I walked in with my kids living with me fulltime. I walked out with the kids full time and I owe money for months that the kids lived with me. I've been in court with my exe several times and my bill never got higher than $3,500.00 and those were complicated cases. Justin delayed my case and overbilled and when the outcome was horrible. He blames McHenry county judges for being incompetent. Might I note he never spoke to judge other than entering in agreed orders. He even called out the judge in my case as incompetent. Justin says that If I was in Kane County we would of gotten real justice. Now Justin has the audacity after me leaving my first bad review to reach out to a mutual friend and asked for the review to be taken down for exchange for the bill. I get another invoice today for his service threatening collections. I'll take this up with the bar associations and all available online reviews.

Our firm and the attorney involved strongly dispute these completely fabricated representations.. Accordingly, we will take appropriate action to address all false and harmful claims in a lawful, truthful, and swift manner. Should you have any questions, you may contact our office.
Justin Hastings is our court appointed GAL, and he is very pleasant to work with. If he gets appointed to your case, you can assure that he will do what is best for the child while looking at the entire picture.
Bryan Sullivan is the best lawyer for family law matters at this firm. During my case, he provided me the best guidance at each and every step, he was very patient, acted very rational and practical throughout the period of 7 months. He is very knowledgeable. I am glad that he was the one who managed my case. Thank you Bryan.
