I got PTSD from our house buying experience. I thought Jeremy was going to help us finally get justice & the money to fix at least 1 of the things that was not disclosed. Idk what happened between the 1st $150 phone call & the next. He gave us all of this work to do ourselves & we did, while keeping him updated through emails. We NEVER received any communication back through our emails. I called twice, the second time Jeremy himself picked up. He told us it wasn’t worth the money. He went from telling us he was going to ‘garnish wages’ & do what it took to help us to ‘it’s not worth it’. The entire time we knew we were likely going to have to subpoena things to prove our case. We discussed this in the 1st phone call. But when it came down to it, he said he didn’t like the odds. Which he could’ve told us during the 1st phone call when we gave him all of the details. He also told me that we didn’t have him on retainer. 1st call, he said that if we did all of the work he gave us & still wanted to pursue the case, that he would include all of our court costs in what we went after. My husband & I do not remember him mentioning us retaining him. We would’ve asked for costs. I took notes during that call. During the final call, he told me this is a small claims court thing, but when I looked into it, the amount we are going after is much more than what small claims court goes after. Something I thought a lawyer would know. I’m left feeling really disappointed & really confused honestly. I also feel as though he wasted our time. I personally put alot of work into this. It’s triggered my PTSD again. I guess we will never see justice in Florida & people can get away with illegal acts that cost others thousands. I wish I would’ve recorded the phone calls to share because it was like we talked to 2 entirely different people. I’ve lost my trust in lawyers after this experience.
Owner response
Katie, you came in for a 30 min legal consultation for $150 and you got one. You never retained me. <br><br>At the consultation you told me of your issue you had with the your home purchase. I explained the rights you had under your contract and under the laws of the state of Florida. I informed you of how the fact pattern you presented would not likely make for a prevailing case. I informed you of a process for attempting to obtain the information yourself to determine if you have facts to support a winning case. (so you would not have to pay me to do it). I informed you if you were successful in lawsuit your contract allowed you to seek recovery of attorney fees. And, if you won you could seek to garnish wages to recover your funds. Basically, I gave you a cradle to grave - what this process would look like overview. I also, informed you that the value of your claim was near the costs to hire me to determine if you even have a winning case. Therefore, I would not recommend hiring me as I do not think the "juice is worth the squeeze". But, if it is your money - you can spend however you want. <br><br>You state that "My husband & I do not remember him mentioning us retaining him." As you did not retain me. You paid for a consultation that you received. You called back and I answered your call and took another 15 mins or so to reiterate the same information (free of charge). <br><br>It appears you were under an unreasonable belief that a lawyer would file a breach of contract case for $150. (the court charges twice that to just file the complaint). I have a family, and employees. They all require I work for money. I can not run a family or a business on $150 lawsuits. To think otherwise is not an opinion based in reality. <br><br>Thanks for the review: Any new client know - I am not going to sue someone for you for $150. (but you may be surprised how affordable it is). (also my consultations are now $250 to try and weed out undesirable clients.....)(free consultations on foreclosures defense, probates, and patricians).<br><br>Finally: Your appointment confirmation states: "If, after your consultation, you wish to retain our office for representation, please note that you must sign a retainer agreement as well as pay the agreed upon down payment for work to begin on your case. Our office will contact you with the agreement via DocuSign as well as a payment link for down payment."<br><br>

Great experience! My wife and I were concerned about a contract we signed and after simply consulting with this firm it put our mind at ease and gave us options for moving forward so my wife and I could make a game plan that worked best for our family. If that game plan doesn’t work we plan to retain Dubyak Law Firm to represent us in court.
