As unhappy as I am to feel somebody was unhappy with our services, I still need to correct the numerous inaccuracies stated above. There was nothing unprofessional about anything that we did. While there was an issue at FAP with technical issues appearing remotely, I still immediately contacted the court and the State Attorney. Latifah states that I should have just "owned up" to the zoom issue; in fact, that's exactly what I did. I immediately called and texted her and then spoke to both her and the actual client explaining that there was a Nebia hold placed on the Defendant regardless so the Court said we could handle the Nebia and final bond issue together the following morning because the Nebia issue could not be addressed this morning anyway. The client agreed and tried telling Latifah that everything that I was relaying about what actually occurred in court was accurate. "Yea, that's actually exactly what the judge said." Latifah wouldn't have any knowledge at all of what actually happened in Court, out of Court, on zoom, or anything at all because she was not present or included in any of that. Latifah is even more inaccurate about what actually happened in Court. Because if she did, she would know that first appearances do not even use zoom any more yet she is extremely certain of me "missing the zoom."<br>After the first appearance, I then spoke to both the actual client, who is NOT Latifah, who asked me to please continue with trying to get the client released. I said we don't need to continue working on this if you do not want us to continue. This is a client from previously so we have helped them for some time. But the client was adamant that everything that I was saying about Court was accurate and to please continue to help. I still continued to work on the matters throughout the day and even made it clear, that if need be, I would be attending first appearance in person the following morning to avoid any possible mishaps without asking for a penny.<br>Additionally, Defense never has "filings," it is the government who does the "filing." So while I made it clear that in order to keep us retained through formal charges being filed, it is a different fee than just handling first appearance, I never said I needed more money for assisting with First Appearances. Nor did the clients ever send money for the hours after First Appearance that I continued to work at their request. Latifah continued to ask me questions and was asking me to continue to do things from after court until almost 4pm, all of which I responded and did continue to work on the matter. Never did we request a cent for the extra help or time that we continued to spend at their repeated request. While I was sorry I could not still get the client out that day, I was going to court the following morning to satisfy the Nebia hold and complete the bond to ensure the client's release. I do not ever minimize that 1 day in jail is 1 too many so the fact that the client did not get out that same day is unfortunate; but with the Nebia hold he still could not have gotten out right away (proof of which, directly from the prosecutor, I emailed Latifah). The technical issue with the phone during first appearance was unfortunate and obviously we would not have wanted that to happen. But things can happen, and we went over and beyond for this client and still never asked for a penny. It's also interesting that the actual client is not making this post because his relaying of what actually transpired would further negate Latifah's post. I hope this helps clarify matters.
