Our experience with Jonas Hemenway at Gravis Law was simply outstanding. He answered all our questions in regards to our wills and provided us with some additional options we may want to consider in the future. Jonas is very personable and knowledgable. We highly recommend him for any estate planning services you need or related questions you may have.
I had a really straightforward custody case. I only had a few conversations via phone and some emails. Then pre trial and trial date. After the court date, I was called and told “yay, we got what you wanted and we will close out your case and finish invoicing”. After two weeks of no contact from them I reached out because I hadn’t used even half of my retainer per my last invoice prior to
court nor had I received any final paperwork. I received an email back that they couldn’t send me anything and it was because they left out the ‘r’ in my name in my email address. I was eventually sent pdf’s of final paperwork. Still nothing about my retainer. I had to reach out again asking about final invoice a week later (3 week past my final court date) I received an invoice that I owed money. I was charge $80 for the 5 min phone call after my final court date congratulating me plus all kinds of other Miscellaneous charges after the final court date, including the emails I sent questioning my whereabouts of my paperwork and invoices. I have called several times but I never get a response. I would say take service elsewhere. I had to send taxes, paystubs several times to several people, was charged for those emails. I was told my MetLife legal service didn’t cover custody but then was told by someone on the phone I was a MetLife so they didn’t know why I paid a retainer. It just all around confusing and there’s no transparency.
All of my attorneys and paralegals were friendly, informative, understanding and professional. I was always able to reach someone for any questions I had and they made the process as easy as possible under the circumstances.
What an amazing team! Jonas and Malia took such good care of me and helped me finish up my husbands very messy probate since he didn't have a will. They were knowledgeable, helpful, responsive and just amazing. I've worked with other probate lawyers in this area and I can truly say working with this team was a blessing.
I’ve reached out to Gravis Law PLLC in Spokane multiple times and unfortunately, I’ve yet to receive any meaningful assistance. Each time I call, I’m told there are no attorneys available—and no indication of when, or if, they’ll be accepting new cases.
When I spoke with Marvin, he had no information to offer and simply said “until further notice,” which didn’t help at all. It’s disappointing that a law office consistently lacks follow-through, customer service, and any real guidance.
I was hopeful for support and transparency, but the experience has been frustrating and unproductive.
Owner response
We're sorry to hear your expectations were not met. Unfortunately, when we have attorneys with a season of a full case load and inability to accept a new matter, it is not always easy to ascertain exactly when the attorney will be ready to meet with a potential new client. That can depend on several factors, including matters settling early, matters not settling and requiring a more complex strategy, and other things we are not always able to foresee. The transparency comes in the form of honesty that we will not commit to helping a client if we do not have the capacity to do our very best for them. We would be happy to try to provide a referral to a local attorney if we are able - please contact our Chief Growth Officer Randi Johnson at RJohnson@gravislaw.com
I reached out to set an appointment the person doing the phone calls tried to tell me because my son is a minor a POA is not necessary but had no knowledge about Washington laws and how a child that is 13 has to provide consent for anyone to be involved in their medical care and are able to make their own medical decisions. Then he wanted my card information over the phone before making an appointment for 100 dollars with no proof of it being a potential scam and said there was no option even when I stated that I was willing to pay in person or at the consultation. The person on the phone was upset even after I explained he sounds more like a scam without having any knowledge on the subject for the state we are in.
Owner response
Danielle, we're sorry to hear your experience did not meet your expectations. Our New Client Communications Team is not a scam. Some of our attorney consultations do come with a pre-appointment fee to reserve the time for you on the attorney's calendar. It is not a scam; it's just a consultation fee. Happy to discuss further if you're still interested: Randi Johnson, Chief Growth Officer RJohnson@gravislaw.com.
I am highly impressed with Gravis law. They did all the work and made it less stressful for me so I could focus on my injuries. I have been telling everyone who will listen about them. Great lawfirm.
