Their process requires completion and submission of their Estate Planning Worksheet before scheduling an appointment. The worksheet includes sensitive data such as date of birth, Social Security number, account values, and names, among other details. Despite my discomfort with providing such sensitive information without an engagement letter and the protections it would afford, they insisted on the form's completion to schedule an appointment. I offered to pay for the consultation instead of receiving one for free, but they were unwilling to make any accommodations. This approach of requesting sensitive data before engaging the attorney puts the client at risk, and I question the judgment of any attorney who advises clients in this manner. Given their handling of sensitive information and lack of flexibility, I would strongly advise seeking legal counsel elsewhere. My response: I was not rude to your team and tried to come to a compromise and workaround I thought they were nice and professional. I expressed my reservations as I had a bad experience with another attorney who could not complete the process due to personal issues. As a business owner of over 25 years dealing with the public I know not everyone is a good fit. However, you did not address my concern that your process is to make the client provide all of their data before an appointment. Please tell me why I have to turn over personal data to your office just for an appointment. Tell me why before having an engagement letter signed that protects both parties you want this data.
