Their process requires completion and submission of their Estate Planning Worksheet before scheduling an appointment. The worksheet includes sensitive data such as date of birth, Social Security number, account values, and names, among other details. Despite my discomfort with providing such sensitive information without an engagement letter and the protections it would afford, they insisted on the form's completion to schedule an appointment. I offered to pay for the consultation instead of receiving one for free, but they were unwilling to make any accommodations. This approach of requesting sensitive data before engaging the attorney puts the client at risk, and I question the judgment of any attorney who advises clients in this manner. Given their handling of sensitive information and lack of flexibility, I would strongly advise seeking legal counsel elsewhere. My response: I was not rude to your team and tried to come to a compromise and workaround I thought they were nice and professional. I expressed my reservations as I had a bad experience with another attorney who could not complete the process due to personal issues. As a business owner of over 25 years dealing with the public I know not everyone is a good fit. However, you did not address my concern that your process is to make the client provide all of their data before an appointment. Please tell me why I have to turn over personal data to your office just for an appointment. Tell me why before having an engagement letter signed that protects both parties you want this data.

Good Day Mr. Claffey - Our process worked to perfection. Not only is the worksheet required prior to an initial consultation, as it obtains salient information for our discussion, provokes thought with prospective clients for issues involving their and their families’ care, but it most importantly sets boundaries and expectations for my firm and our interactions with individuals. I appreciate your perspective, but you were rude to my team, voiced displeasure with prior experiences, and now have left a one star review for our intake process that we have created. Let that sink in. Be that as it may, I hope that you are able to get an estate plan created under your terms, as I am fully aware I cannot please everyone. For those who are not scared away by a productive and efficient process, come on down to Handelin Law where we are Handelin your legal needs (but not Mr. Caffey's).

Great people in this office. Amber has been amazing to work with and extremely responsive to anything I needed. Always took the extra time to make sure I had clarification on everything. I have been a client of Handelin Law for six years. I have worked with Steve and Amber. They prepared my will and trust and have since amended it on two occasions. They also prepared my Buy Sell agreement for my self and my business partner. I am very happy with their work. They are thorough and appear to be current on their directions and suggestions.
