Was disappointed with Mr. Klein.
A fairly easy case with false allegations from one parent towards the other.
The $25,000 I gave Mr. Klein the first day we met,Lead me to believe he was our attorney.
We didn’t know he contracted out other attorneys to do his work. He just takes the money and gives a good sales pitch.
One of his contracted attorneys he assigned to our case, works for Kingston, Family court.
We could have obtained her or someone like her for free
The case lasted over 4 four years with very little movement.
Mr Kleins contracted attorney told us that key motions were filed. We found out later they were not filed.
The biggest loss was not so much the $25,000. It was the seven children that cried out for 4 years for their parent.
The other parent seemed angry, vengeful, yet happy knowing she could easily get her way with a false allegation. One that was never questioned or brought up in court. And the attorneys ignored that.
Had the faults allegations
been addressed the case would’ve been over in 3 to 6 months as Mr. Klein promised.
Mr. Klein never once involved himself in the
The case, even though I asked him over and over to please step in.
After over four long years, the children finally got to see and visit the accused parent.
No evidence whatsoever for the false allegation.
We hired Stephen, not several other people that worked on the case.
He is a very good salesman, and because of that could have used that sales pitch to fight for us and the children. But he didn’t.
I had to hire another attorney and left a lot of unused money on the table with Mr. Klein, which he would not even return a portion.
I’ve learned not to Google the most popular attorneys on the Internet. And I don’t know where the five stars come from.
I would go to someone that presents themselves more truthfully. I paid for what he promised, and he didn’t quite step up to the plate.
Mr. Klein’s response to this is totally false. He offered to handle the case from start to finish for $25,000 and I paid him that day.
He remembers very well the case, as I have letters that I wrote him pleading with him to step in. The case lasted four years because we had to hire another attorney leaving money on the table, but it still did not close for four years because the next attorney was not much better. She tried.
Mr. Klein may have been a good attorney, but he would not show any of his abilities.
He put the case in other inept peoples hands and had no information about the case
Yet he was the one we paid and he was the one we thought would represent us.
This also happened to a friend of mine, whose daughter asked for money back from him when he didn’t come through with his promises. Fortunately, she gave a retainer with minimal loss.
With his great sales pitch, we went for the $25,000 deal to do it all.
I’m just trying to save others from the grief we went through and the emotional damage of the seven children that were involved.
Not only did Mr. Klein not take the case to heart, neither did the courts. It was all about who the best lawyer was, and we didn’t have a good one.
The other side did. And had we hired that attorney , the results would’ve been different for sure.
When looking for an attorney, I would carefully investigate their history and background. It can be very telling and might prevent disappointment and financial loss.
Perhaps he’s changed now five years later.
I could easily post a letter I wrote to him as it’s still on my computer, pleading for him to step in.
I’m not sure why he’s denying this case. It’s similar to how he denied us legal help and support when we needed it.

While we understand that we aren't perfect, and we welcome criticism, we cannot allow false reviews to go unanswered and mislead the public. This review is just that for several reasons. First, we don't charge $25,000 retainers for Family Court cases. Our highest Family Court retainer is $3,500. Second, no proceeding in Family Court takes 4 years. The court is constrained by state "standards and goals," and the most complicated cases rarely take longer than a year. Most are done well within that. Third, we do not "contract out" our cases. 90% of our cases are handled directly by Steven Klein, and the rest are handled by our associate. Finally, we cannot find any case we handled in Ulster County for a client with this name that comes close to matching any claims made in the review.
I can't say enough about Mr. Klein! I hired him to help with a sensitive issue, and was blown away by the effort and care that went into my case. He is professional, kind, the staff is amazing and communicative...my family couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend working with him! Thank you, Steven, for everything you've done for my family. We are so grateful!
I worked with Mr. Klein on a family law/CPS case, and I couldn’t have asked for better representation. Communication was outstanding—always keeping me informed and answering every question quickly. He was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive to every detail, and truly fought tooth and nail for me. I’m so grateful for his dedication and the way they advocated for me during the last year. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a strong attorney.

Thank you for the kind words, Caitlyn. It was my pleasure to represent you!
Anyone with a shred of common sense would see through Klein's lies. He is claiming I didn't pay my bill, but had the money to hire another attorney? Lies. I have no debt with him. Steve Klein ran for public office, but lost, all while he should have done more to help my difficult divorce case. I guess he thinks he is a judge somewhere? Sorry. but I do not see Judge Klein in any of my Google searches. I see that Steven Klein's partner he hired, Cindy Sanchez, has been banned from practicing law. If you see Steve Klein's website lately, it lists the only attorneys in this firm is Steve and his recently deceased father...Is Steve looking to ride his deceased dad's coattails or garnering sympathy? Just so bizarre...Please inform yourself before trusting Steven Klein.
Owner response
Nice to hear from you Ms. Zamborsky. We were doing quite well on your case when you chose to retain different counsel and did not want to pay your bill. No hard feelings. We fought hard for and would have continued to do so to the end had we had the opportunity. Mr. Klein did not have any political interest at the time of your case. He was asked to run for Judge over a year after you switched attorneys. He won his election and did not lose as you suggest. And he does not recall seeing you in Court. Had he, he certainly would have said hello and been friendly to you as always.
This Office is very professional. I chose to hire Steven Klein which i was very pleased. He will represent your case and fight hard for you. I Recommend anyone who needs an attorney to call. If I can give it a 10 I would. Thanks again Steven for your service 😇 really appreciate you.
Nothing short of excellence!
Over the past 2+ years, Mr. Klein’s knowledge, determination, visionary leadership coupled by his negotiating skills, and distinguished performance by delivering strong and sustainable topic gains has led to a fair resolution in my county’s Supreme Court for my divorce enforcement proceedings.

This is absolutely the worst attorney in dutchess County. All of his negative reviews state that they have no client matching this description.... This isn't true. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else!!! Do your research this gentleman is not a good attorney at all he was way behind my ex-wife's attorney at every single move. She is retired now but when a friend of mine needed an attorney I recommended her. I also hired a woman is my second attorney when I fired this guy!!!
Owner response
Mr. Beska, unlike many others who have left reviews, you were indeed a former client, though your case was over seven years ago. While we’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied, it’s important to note that the outcome of any legal matter often depends on the client’s willingness to follow legal advice. You were, of course, free to seek different representation at any time, and we respect that choice. However, we believe your conclusions about our work are premature, as we were not given the opportunity to fully resolve your case. We also understand and respect your right to share your experience, though we do hope this will provide some closure after all this time. We wish you all the best moving forward.
From our first consultation, Mr. Klein was clear, communicative, and compassionate — making sure I understood every step of the legal process.
They were always prompt in responding to my questions and kept me well-informed on the progress of my case.
If you’re looking for a lawyer who truly cares about their clients and is an expert in family law cases I highly recommend Mr. Klein.
Mr Klein is the best attorney in the Poughkeepsie area. He helped me regain custody and thanks to him i am a happy man again. I am really grateful for Mr Klein and his team for doing such an excellent job. With such an excellent team on your side you don’t have to worry as much because they genuinely care and respond to emails at all times of the day. I can’t thank you enough for the effort you’ve put in such a short amount of time. Truly appreciate you for everything.
My husband and I recently retained Mr. Klein for a family court matter. This was the second time we have worked with him. During such a stressful time, it is relieving to have such a good team to rely on. Steven is a straight-to-the point attorney with extensive legal knowledge, who heard our concerns and fought for what was right for us. Contacting him was seamless and anytime we had what we felt was a crazy after-hours question, he answered clearly and promptly. His office staff is wonderful and were so helpful in this process as well. We are so thankful for Mr. Klein and the team at Klein & Sanchez.
My experience with this firm was extremely disappointing, particularly with Cindy Sanchez. She demonstrated a lack of attention to detail and poor case management throughout the process. Cindy consistently waited until the last minute to contact me, often just before hearings, yet billed for "preparation" time despite showing no real preparation, focus, or strategy. Her involvement ended up being more of a liability than a help, and I had to be the one fixing the issues she caused just to keep my case moving forward, not without challenges due to the poor management of my case. Her focus was on trying to make me settle for nothing, all in benefit of the opposing party.
Additionally, the firm charged for tasks I never requested, and despite promises, I never received the remainder of my retainer back. Communication was a nightmare—calls were canceled repeatedly (one time a scheduled call was cancelled at the scheduled time, five times in a row, to be exact), and I had to constantly remind them about necessary submissions or deadlines. It became clear that she was overbooked and unable to provide the level of focus or service needed (and which they certainly charge for).
Believe the negative reviews: this firm seems more interested in excessive billing than effective representation. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for competent legal help.
