I recently made the decision right before my hearing to switch to a different attorney. After meeting him and speaking with his very professional and kind staff, I realized that my experience with the initial application could and should have been very different with Attorney Spat - much more proactive and involved. It was a nervewracking decision, and I'm glad I made it. I no longer dread communicating with my attorney and am filled with new hope and confidence. I would encourage anyone going through this for the first time to research what an SSDI lawyer should do for you from the start, and also to consider going to an office that has additional staff that can assist. As Meryl told me over the phone, she doesn't have "a team of monkeys" who can answer her emails. The rest of that phone call is what made me decide to leave, and I wish I could drop the transcript here, but I found it to be extremely bizarre and unprofessional. While I am glad that others have benefitted from her knowledge and experience, I felt compelled to share this in case it helps anyone either feel not alone in their experiences with Meryl or to help someone decide on who to choose for representation during this very difficult and stressful process. Best of luck on all your journeys! Know what you're worth and trust your gut.
