I just spent over an hour on the phone with Mr Dennis. He didn't have much in the way of good news. That doesn't mean it wasn't an extremely valuable conversation. He didn't tell me much that I wanted to hear, but he did give me a lot of reality. The reality is that we don't live in a country where workers are valuable or protected - we are a replaceable product of a toxic environment. Worker's "compensation" does very little to actually compensate us, even for devastating injuries, even when the process goes more or less smoothly. Mr Dennis won't be my lawyer, because I don't have a case. But he is an extraordinarily knowledgeable, highly capable attorney, and if I were in a position to require one, he is the one I'd want representing me in this area. I spoke to several other law offices today and his was the only one worth talking to. He was the only one that didn't talk over me, or mispronounce my name after being corrected THREE times, or have to take a minute to mentally reconcile with the fact that, yes, girls ARE allowed to work on the slope now (we can vote, too, but I didn't want to lay too much on this poor guy all at once). He listened to my entire experience, he didn't interrupt me or talk over me...he just explained the laws relevant to my case. He wasn't dismissive because I don't have one and he didn't talk down to me because I hoped I did. Thank you for your time today. I appreciate you.
