One of the worst experiences of my life. Hands down do not ask them for anything. Negligent counseling, wrong dates times, getting responses from questions or a call back is like pulling teeth (weeks without answering), false counseling through and through. Lost every case I went to and was dumb enough to keep listening to their counseling. Jorge Martinez and the Mackey Law team's legal license should be revoked. Not only do they take your money but they damage your life in the process. Mackey Law Group's negligence will cost you!
Their reply to my review is inaccurate. I came to them and was assured the the agreement that was signed would be thrown out. After losing that case they continued negligent counseling to the tune of 2 years and tens of thousands of dollars. I demanded action on money owed and instead of filing; I ended up paying more for something that should have been taken care of a year earlier. And there were literally weeks of emails, calls to the office, and left messages without answering.
There were wrong days, times, dates so bad I had to call and confirm before going. Just negligence ALL around.
And don't ever let him tell you he never lost an appeal. Because he lost my appeal even after assuring me it was not a waste of money.
Owner response
This review is inaccurate. This client came to us after entering into a bad agreement (as to marital settlement and parenting plan) absent speaking with an attorney. Then, this individual came to our firm to attempt to modify the agreement he had already signed. We were ultimately successful in modifying the agreement and getting the client additional timesharing. However, the client was not “satisfied” with the extent of the Court’s modification order. During our representation, I not only did a great job, but I was also very attentive to the client’s requests/needs, via even providing the client with my personal cell number so the client could call me after hours and on the weekends, a courtesy not normally extended to clients.

In addition, this client never paid our firm’s bill in full; instead, he posted the above.
JM esq.

If you want a lawyer who will drop you as a client a couple of weeks before trial, after spending thousands, Jose Estigarribia is your go to.
Owner response
Ms. Alvarado’s case was proceeding toward trial. However, I continually had to advise Ms. Alvarado that our law firm’s engagement agreement, which she had signed, required her to maintain a retainer at a certain level. Ms. Alvarado was not complying with the retainer portion of our law firm’s engagement agreement. During the case, I even allowed Ms. Alvarado to make payments, so that the legal representation could continue. Unfortunately, as we came up to trial, Ms. Alvarado could not keep up with her contractual payment obligations, specifically the retainer requirement, and my firm had to withdraw from representing Ms. Alvarado. Otherwise, if I had not withdrawn, I would have been “working for free”. We had a hearing before the Judge, Ms. Alvarado was present, and I was allowed to withdraw from representing Ms. Alvarado. She then chose to proceed to trial with no lawyer. It appears that the no-lawyer decision was not prudent and Ms. Alvarado now wants to unjustifiably blame me for what occurred at trial.

I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Mackey for a few months, and during that time, I appreciated his integrity. When he faced challenges in meeting his obligations, he thoughtfully returned my retainer in full. It showed a great deal of respect for our agreement and his commitment to doing the right thing.
Do not recommend. Paralegal left half way into my case. Went over retained and demanded money when over promising and finalizing documents. Several missed meetings, pushed off calls and left my case.
Owner response
This person is not now and has never been a client of this law firm. She may be confusing us with another law firm in town.
Do not recommend. Will take your pricey retainer fee and sit on it for over a year. I imagine that at $5,000.00 per client, he's doing fairly well from his boat!

This is the place to go to be treated like your case matters, to have someone finally stand up for you, and fight for what's right. They do not let other opposing counsel push them around, they'll stand firm in their convictions.
Big thank you to Mackey Law Group. They are working hard for me.

Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy doing your own legal work.
If you are looking for an attorney who will disappear the moment your retainer clears, Mackey is your man. He is full of empty promises during the initial consultation, but once he has your money, the "service" ends.
Here is what you can actually expect:
Zero Communication: They will ignore your emails and calls for weeks, only to resurface when it's time for another retainer.
Disorganization: He showed up to my session with a massive file of paperwork that wasn't even mine. It's clear they don't look at the file until they are walking through the door.
You Are the Paralegal: We ended up doing the majority of the paperwork for on our own family case. He didn't even bother to review the parenting plan to advise on what was in our best interest.
Billing is a Joke: The fees are astronomical for the lack of effort provided. By the third retainer, you realize you're just funding his lifestyle while he has side conversations with opposing counsel to keep the case dragged out for his own benefit.
Total lack of ethics. He will even have people from the office who know nothing about your case "handle" things just to keep the clock ticking.
Do yourself a favor: get every single promise in writing during the consult, or better yet, find a lawyer who actually cares about your family. He dropped my case after making a formal complaint I will have no choice but to take this up with the bar with receipts of all of the delays and mishandling of billing and casework.
