I hired Justin to tackle what ended up being a long, drawn out divorce process (by no fault of his own!) and couldn't imagine under any circumstances that it would end in the manner by which it did. Separating from an extremely hostile and dangerous narcissist while raising my first child, then barely a year old, was frightening to plan out, let alone undertake, but Attorney Maffeo ended up being a godsend, both in a legal and interpersonal sense. Shortly after our first consultation, my toddler disappeared for nearly a month after my ex disappeared with my car, phone, and our son. Needless to say, I was constantly on edge, miles beyond anxious, and fully sleep-deprived. My divorce was unspeakably messy and chaotic, but had it not been for Justin's calm and collected nature, I would've lost my mind. He was a constant bulwark against my emotional spillover, always giving me a full spate of options and highlighting what he saw as the wisest move to make while still never pressuring me to go in one direction or another. The decisions were always mine to make, though I owe Justin a debt of gratitude for enduring my strong opinions and stronger personality...I'm deeply passionate about my little guy and was driven more by gut than legal sense at times, which I admit led to an outburst or three along the way in moments where the "long game" was unclear to me. Thankfully, there was never a moment where Justin took it personally. In meetings where a rational person would've booted me out of their office due to my at-times argumentative nature, he was perpetually mindful of my underlying pain and uncertainty, in conjunction with associated moods that would naturally arise given wider circumstances. In short, this man is a consummate professional and absolute workhorse. While I'm not recommending that anyone adapt my style of communication, Justin was EXTREMELY responsive regardless of whether they were days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Please be a decent human being and reach out at normal hours, as my particular situation seemed to evolve by the hour, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I gave this poor bastard a literal mountain's worth of documentation, and he dutifully combed through each and every word like a detective. One of the wisest pieces of advice he ever gave me, and I'll paraphrase, is that "when you're winning, embrace the silence". That carried me far, through both the trial and all that's occurred since. Justin may be part machine, but he's also human. The guy has a sharp sense of humor and is very approachable, and I've never felt uncomfortable, intimidated or disrespected in his presence. As statistically unlikely as this was as an outcome, I was ultimately granted sole custody of my son in a state where the odds of such are on par with correctly guessing the number of jellybeans in a jar at the state fair. Not to sound like a billboard come to life, but Justin is a zealous advocate for his clientele. I say that because looking back, I consider myself to have been at the extreme polarity of a generic divorce situations. If he can handle my circumstances with the grace and dignity that he did, then no one should expect anything less for themselves if they were to choose his representation for their own matter. I don't want this to be lost in the mix, but in addition to our navigation of civil court, my ex was also facing criminal charges as well for domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. For a very reasonable cost, he tackled both cases side by side. Justin is tireless both in and out of the courtroom, and was absolutely brilliant on his feet during the various hearings we had over the course of my process. He ensured that I was well-prepared for testimony, and was excellent at periodically checking in with me. Not all days during a divorce are rosy, and knowing such, Justin kept my emotions in check and expectations clear. He single handedly gave me my life back - give him a chance!!
