I know that Mary is a top rated civil rights attorney and I would love to work with her although she's booked out for nine months!

Didn't get a chance to meet with Mary, I spoke with her assistant, Cara instead. I had left a voicemail to schedule a consult, Cara called me & began pre-screening me i suppose, asking basic questions, she would cut me off repeatedly, never giving me the opportunity to fully explain or get into details of my case, she would say things like "that's the reason you want to file a lawsuit?" "You need to have evidence/proof of the allegations" and "you don't really have a good enough case to pursue legal action." It wasn't so much what she said, rather, the way she said it, VERY condescending & sarcastic. No empathy what so ever, she was more concerned with getting me off the phone & it was very clear she didn't care in the least bit about my situation. My situation was very intricate, not easy to explain in under 5 minutes, so I offered to email them a timeline of events/occurrences with more detailed info that I had began documenting when my situation began. I had kept VERY good notes, had a lot of evidence & 2 witnesses who were willing to give statements, she declined & wouldn't let me send it! Saying "No, you just don't have a case here, another attorney may take your case but we cannot, Mary works with bigger organizations, high dollar lawsuits, we don't really take on smaller cases. I said thanks & that was that. The entire phone conversation was less than 5 minutes. I'm not sure how any attorney or assistant can do a consult in anything under 1 hour. No case is that simple. I looked further into this firm that night & she was truthful about Mary working high dollar lawsuits only. Her website lists her "big wins" and at least one of them was 1 million settlement. Some others were previous police officers of the Spokane County Police Department- cases that were very high profile. If you don't represent people who aren't high profile or worth 500k+ in a lawsuit, maybe that should be advertised on your website. Oh...and you should really look into replacing your assistant, Cara, she's not doing your business any favors with her condescending, sarcastic, discourteous, contentious, insolent attitude. (FYI this was back in March 2020)

Read a lot of positive things about Mary Schultz. My consultation with her assistant, Cara was absolutely awful. I get that law is hard edged but having someone that condescending, argumentative, insensitive and unkind talking to people about the worst things that have happened to them in their lives and berating them for being nervous when they talk about it (especially after I told her I had PTSD) is not OK. Way to discourage the downtrodden. I was able to find another office where I was allowed to actually speak and I am now being taken care of.
