I reached out to Matern Law seeking a consultation regarding a potential wrongful termination after seeing their positive reviews, but my experience did not reflect what was advertised.
Karim, who initially contacted me to gather additional information, was difficult to reach by phone and text. He also called multiple times outside of normal business hours, which I found inappropriate. After we scheduled a follow-up call for 12:30 pm the next day, I did not receive a call at the agreed time and was unable to reach him despite multiple attempts. This was especially stressful because I had a hard deadline to sign a severance agreement with my former employer.
** UPDATE** To his credit, Karim did call later that evening and apologized for the delay in communication. He was kind, empathetic, and professional during our conversation. Unfortunately, the firm was ultimately unable to assist me because they primarily focus on EEOC and discrimination-based wrongful termination matters, and my situation did not fall within that scope.
I wish I had known earlier in the process that their practice is limited in this way, as it would have saved valuable time while I was under a strict deadline. While I appreciate Karim’s eventual follow-up and professionalism, the repeated delays in communication over a two-week period created unnecessary stress during a time-sensitive legal matter.
Additionally, there appears to be no reliable way to reach anyone else at the firm. The main office number listed publicly routes to a Google phone line with no live person answering and no voicemail option available. I called multiple times and waited on hold, only to be unable to leave a message or speak with anyone. If you cannot reach the initial point of contact, there is effectively no alternative channel to communicate with the firm, which is deeply concerning when dealing with urgent legal matters.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for the communication delays and understand how stressful that can be during a time-sensitive situation. While we’re glad Karim was able to follow up, we recognize that those earlier gaps caused frustration. Your feedback is appreciated and is being reviewed so we can improve our responsiveness and intake process moving forward. If you’re open to it, we would welcome the opportunity to reconnect and address your situation, please email us at info@maternlawgroup.com
Hi Humberto! Thank you so much for your feedback. We're glad to hear you received excellent assistance and that we were able to help you in Spanish. We greatly appreciate your trust and are here to help you whenever you need us.
I reached out to this law firm in California to explore the possibility of a class action lawsuit against a Voice over IP telephone service provider. An associate contacted me, requesting paperwork related to my case, which I promptly sent over. After that, the associate went radio silent. When I tried to follow up on the status of my case, she ignored my requests. Eventually, I figured out that the firm wasn't interested in taking on my case. The lack of courtesy from the firm was pretty frustrating - making me wait and then ignoring my simple requests about the viability of my case. They wasted my time when I could've been looking for another firm that would actually take my case.
A truly terrible experience. At first, they told me they would only take a percentage, the same as other lawyers, and that they would recoup their profit and case costs from that. But in the end, they started changing the deductibles and altering the balance sheet to suit their needs. They ended up keeping more money than they gave me and cashed the same check twice, even though it was supposed to be just for me and they weren't supposed to take any part of it. It was awful. Little by little, they started adding things and things, and in the end, they kept more than they gave me. Be careful and make sure you check your payment slips because they modify them to suit their needs. They didn't send me the full amount, and again, they kept more than half of the last check. After reading reviews from other clients, I realized it's not the first time they've done this. Be careful. This happened to me with the lawyer Kristen Doyan and her assistant, Cristian.
They have a strict policy of not returning your phone call. So I will be giving someone else my business.

HI James, We’re sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We do our best to promptly follow up with all inquiries. That said, there are times when a matter falls outside of our practice areas, in which case we may not move forward with a case.

We understand how important communication is, and we’re sorry this wasn’t made clearer to you. Wishing you the best in resolving your legal matter!

Best,
The Matern Law Group Team
Great law firm. Supportive and got what was fought for.

Thank you for the 5-star review! We’re so glad to hear that you felt supported and achieved the outcome you deserved. It was our privilege to stand by your side, and we really appreciate your trust in us. If you ever need anything in the future, we are here to help!
It's terrible, I was told one thing and they didn't give me the results. What a shame to take advantage of an adult woman who was only seeking professional help, and I was the one who suffered.

Hello Doris, we appreciate you leaving us a review. You are welcome to call us at anytime if you need further explaination or information. Our clients' experience is very important to us and are happy to discuss anything further.
Do not deal with them. They are very unprofessional. I request a call back, and they never call back. They won't tell you who your attorney is. They will never provide any important updates. I would know how my attorney is or who to contact right now, and I am a client. I have to ask very urgent questions regarding my claim, and they have yet to contact me back. Also, the initial question interview took nearly 2 hours. I had to do it two times because the 1st time, the lady forgot to log my answers 😑😒. I think they are over book and don't have a good control system of what's going on with their clients. Choose another law firm.
Hi, this feedback is for Adilia. She is a fantastic asset to have for any law firm simply because she approaches the case from the human side of the story. Out of 7 law firms we contacted about our case, she was the only one who didn’t just reject our description with a one line message. Adilia actually scheduled time with us to discuss a possible case and to provide suggestions on how to gather evidence, things to listen to and document. By educating a client, it actually saves everyone time and money, so that more tangible evidence can be found and the case can proceed with positive momentum. Thank you for your valuable time, Adilia and we will certainly follow up with you once we gather more proof, now that we know what we need.
Kareem was very helpful and informative in taking my information down and giving direction. I wasn't sure what to do with the legal issue I was facing, but Kareem assured me that they will do their best to weigh any options and give me the best course of action. Whether they will be able to help me or not, they are doing their best to give me the resources I need to find a solution.
