I just had a couple of questions pertaining to contractual things. The receptionist put me right through to attorney Jeff Davis. He answered my questions very thoroughly and thoughtfully. I tried to pay him and he would not accept my money! Hands down great firm!!
I sold my home in December 2025, and Jenny Park served as my real estate attorney. She was recommended by my agent, and I accepted the referral without interviewing her first. If I had spoken with her beforehand, I would not have chosen to work with her.
To be fair, she did keep the timeline on track. However, her attitude and professionalism were extremely disappointing.
1. Rudeness during closing
When I asked questions about the documents I was signing, the first response I received was a loud, frustrated sigh. My wife witnessed it as well. Moments later, she raised her voice at me as if I couldn’t hear or understand her. My hearing is perfectly fine. As a client, I expect clear explanations of the documents I’m signing—especially from the attorney I hired. Instead, I felt dismissed and talked down to.
2. Careless mistakes in my documents
I found multiple errors in my personal information across different documents, including a phone number I’ve never had and an address where I’ve never lived. These mistakes seriously damaged my trust in the accuracy of her work.
3. Lack of transparency about fees
Be prepared for unexpected legal fees. She never explained or disclosed any of the costs ahead of time. I ended up paying over $2,000 in attorney fees at closing. If you have questions, you’ll need to research them yourself because you won’t get proactive guidance from her.
Overall
She completes the work on time, but her rudeness, lack of communication, and careless errors in official documents make her very difficult to recommend. I would not work with her again.
Not only do they do a magnificent job with my LLC filings and refilling, but they do it with a very human touch. I highly recommend choosing Meyer Capel for all of your legal needs.
I had a very bad experience with Jilmala Rogers. I'm trying to restore my second amendment rights. She is not a fighter for your rights. She didn't put up a fight against the state. Just agreed and went along with everything they said. It was a waste of $2500 and a year process. I HIGHLY recommend anybody looking for a GOOD,STRONG LAWYER...TO STAY AWAY FROM HER
Mrs. Propps at this firm is a great attorney, I was facing 5 class 3 felonies with a pretty good amount of both digital and physical evidence at the state level each punishable by 2-5 years in prison and a fine of up to 25k. She got me a deal where 3 got dropped and I plead guilty to two and got 2.5 years of second chance probation, 100 hours of community service, and like 10k between restitution and fines. I will have a clean record when all that is complete since it’s expungable.
Also, she didn’t even use the full retainer, I got like 40% of it back. All around a very honest and helpful attorney and I highly recommend retaining her if you’re facing legal troubles.
Forres Meyer is an outstanding, knowledgeable and patient attorney. He walked me step by step through my aunt’s probate case. He was always a quick phone call or email away and answered any questions promptly. His staff was also helpful and kind.
Thank you, Forrest, for your excellent work on my behalf.

I can't recommend Forrest Heyman enough. He helped our family navigate the estate process efficiently, always with kindness and compassion. He and his team are knowledgeable and diligent — simply excellent at what they do.

This is in response to the review I made 4 weeks ago. Meyer Capel asked me to reach out to them upon my poor review. I did; it took them 1 week to reply and gave me very little notice and very little options of when I could speak with them. Stephanie and Steven spoke with me on my 3/19 call. They said they would bring my concerns up to the board meeting and I would hear back the following week. I didn't hear back upon their promised date. I had to email asking for an update.
It just goes to confirm my previous experience of being ignored, files lost, Docusigns Lost, information printed incorrectly on my Divorce Certificate, not advocating for their client.
If you need a divorce attorney use Mr. Fulk at Cox & Fulk LLC. That is who represented my ex and Meyer Capel was powerless against him
I would give a zero or negative stars if I could. If you need a divorce, this is not the law from you should hire unless you want the process drawn out, a lawyer not to fight for you, documents to get lost, and to experience a high turnover in lawyers and paralegals. When I first met with Tristan (Lawyer #1) he advised me I would have to wait a little over a month before he could start handling my case. I was ok with that. I signed paperwork, paid my retainer and waited 2 months. I sent an email following up and was told my case was actually marked as "Closed". They re-opened it and I had to wait a couple more weeks before he could fit me in. I was advised that we could pass up my Financial Affidavit because they thought an agreement could be made. It couldn't but I was not advised otherwise until months later. I compiled my financial affidavit and sent it off. Waited and asked for an update. I believe I sent 3 emails over the course of 1 month to Tristan and Helen, his paralegal. I never heard anything from them. I had to contact my Ex- to ask his lawyer if they got my financial affidavit. It was never sent, and in fact Tristan hadn't even looked at it. To Tristan's credit, he did apologize and refund me some retainer money. He told me to expect a response within 24 business hours. Tristan wound up moving to a different state and passed my case along to a different lawyer in the office, Jilmala (Lawyer #2). Jilmala would take weeks to reply to me. I routine had to follow up on action items and then follow up on my follow up. During all of this I went through like 9 different paralegals and interns - Helen, Kelsi, Sandra, Shannon, Heather, Ashley, Caroline, Samantha, and Stephanie. I would sign documents in DocuSign with one of them and it would be lost. Id then be contacted weeks later asking me to sign a document I'd already sign but they had lost. The marital house was sold in the midst of the divorce, we had legal paperwork on how the funds would be handled. Month later when Jilmala was typing up the final MSA, she included how the house would be listed, sold, and funds dispersed. I had to tell her and send her documents of my house closing that they should have already had on file. It was an extremely frustrating experience and it escalated what could have been a more friendly divorce into a nit-picking and feisty one because of how long it dragged out. I did not feel like I had any advocates on my side. I was not counseled in any direction just asked what offer I wanted to make? or if an offer from the other lawyer was one I would want to accept. They basically were just an expensive vehicle to file all the legal paperwork for my divorce. No lawyers fought for me. Photos are of my emails with the various lawyers and paralegals; please note dates on the email threads. I would identify them as a Circus Ring and not a professional Law Firm. The only good thing that came out of this was I did eventually get a Cert of Marriage Dissolution; however that was originally sent with incorrect information. They had my Ex's state of birth and current county incorrect.

This law firm was really great to me and my boys, We had a complicated case for selling our house. Harold and Rochelle did a great job helping us navigate through the Court systems., I would recommend them to anyone. Harold was very knowledgeable on the law in Illinois. In Rochelle, one above and beyond.

I had a great experience with Meyer Capel handling my Dad's estate. Forrest Heyman and his assistant were very professional and knowledgeable. They responded to my calls and emails in a timely matter. Dealing with a tough situation they definitely helped make the process go smoothly.

I normally don't this but this lady was out of line and pure rude. I called and barely got a sentence out, and she immediately cut me off and threw out another attorney’s name and number and rudely got off the phone. It's too bad she didn't know who she was on the phone with. I was also looking for some other business too but hey I will gladly give another office my money. If you make it past the initial phone call best of luck. Because if she is a reflection of that office, I think I dodged a bullet. Good day!
