Updated to add: I continue to use Murphy and Bergland Estate Planning and Medicaid Attorneys for filing my husband’s Medicaid recertification. This year, the state of Florida made an error and said my husband was ineligible. Since he is in a long term care facility, I panicked. Thankfully, Tatiana did not. She kept me informed of what was being done and repeatedly assured me that they would continue advocating for my husband. I have now been notified that my husband’s eligibility has been reinstated. I appreciate both the professionalism and the compassion we have received.
Murphy and Bergland Estate Planning and Medicaid Attorneys originally handled our wills, advance directives, power of attorney and trusts in 2019. They did my husband’s original Medicaid application in 2023 and I continue to use them every year for his recertification. I appreciate their knowledge and their professionalism. Every interaction has been friendly and caring. Absolutely will continue using them.
Owner response
Thank you Darlene. It’s been our pleasure working with you over the years.
A couple years ago my stepsister decided to abandon her father's (my stepfather) estate items on my property. She even signed documents stating there was nothing of estate value. She refused to remove the stuff, leaving me to spend my time and money to dispose of it all. About two years later she decided she wanted the money for that and stuff she made up in her head. Michelle Berglund agreed and made up a story that I took the stuff, she deducted a made up value of the stuff and stuff that didn't exist from what was owed to me from the estate and gave it to my stepsister. My attorney doesn't do probate contesting, but agreed it was not a legal move.
Oh yeah, several months ago, Michelle tried to get me to sign a document that stated I received all payouts due to me from the estate. I told them I had not and she tried again to get me to sign. After that, they sent me the reduced "final" check and said there will be no more communication.
Every single time for a span of months I tried calling to talk to her in person, I was told she was on vacation. Towards the end I was getting automated return emails saying the same thing. This attorney was supposed to be representing the estate to make sure everything is fair, not my sister directly. Just because Michelle thinks she is an attorney, doesn't mean she does things legally. She claims I did not respond to the notices, I have an email trail that shows otherwise. I even got email notices that she tried to retract her responses before she set up the vacation auto-response.
I didn't really care about the money, just didn't like how my sister and the corrupt attorney were playing dirty.
Owner response
I did not represent you as a client. You’re upset that I got a favorable legal outcome for my client. It is public record that I followed the letter of the law. I’m sorry your alleged attorney didn’t give you better advice (no attorney ever corresponded with me on your behalf and you were not represented in the court case). You were served with legal notices and you failed to respond to the legal notices within the legal timeframe as the court requires. Nothing was made up- Florida law was followed. If you don’t like the law, feel free to write your congressman. In the future, I recommend you have an attorney actually enter into a court case on your behalf so that someone can fully advise you as to your rights.
I genuinely feel like I hit the jackpot when I found Murphy & Berglund almost five years ago. Attorney Jodi Murphy is just the best and has been AMAZING in helping me navigate the complicated world of elder law. I cannot recommend her and her brilliant team (especially Tatiana!) more highly. Really wonderful to work with. Thank you!! :)
Owner response
Thank you, Heather. It was our pleasure working with you. We were happy to help!
Jodi Murphy of Murphy & Berglund, PLLC is the right combination of knowledge of wills and trusts, professionalism and friendliness. It was a pleasure for my wife and I to work with her and her amazing staff. She gave us the confidence to know that "all the i's were dotted and all the tees were crossed..." when it came to our plan for our estate when we both leave this earth. Thank you Jodi and staff. You will make a wise decision if you decide to hire her for your estate planning.
This was a long estate probate journey, but with Carla and Murphy & Berglund by my side, we got through it! Thank you for always answering my questions and taking care of all the details!
Owner response
It was our pleasure assisting you. This was a tough journey, but you endured it with grace!
Attorney Michelle Berglund-Harper, Tesia, Carla & Debra were absolutely wonderful to work with when probating my mother's estate. They were a welcome recommendation from the Orange County Bar Association's office. I needed to execute the summary administration of my mother's estate for a parcel of land in FL with her actual residency in New England. The entire team was qualified, experienced, timely, resourceful and responsive throughout the process, consisently advising me on the necessary documents & associated timelines and providing routine updates to keep me informed. They did an exceptional job of managing my expectations and answering any questions that I had. If I had to go through this process all over again, I would not hesitate in doing business with Murphy & Berglund. They are an outstanding team of professionals. Highly recommend! You will not be disappointed!

Thank you so much for the kind words Peter. It was an absolute pleasure assisting you. We wish you the best!
