UPDATE: I finally was able to get a hold of the attorneys and share my experience. They basically didn’t believe me and sided with the incredibly rude and unprofessional receptionist! Unbelievable, avoid.
Figured I’d share this here for future reference if anyone gets a ticket. I received a minor speeding ticket recently and contacted Fred Hopkins, whom I’ve used in the past.
Experience:
• Emailed his office 3 times over 2 weeks asking if he could help with copy of the ticket (used email on his site).
• Never heard back. Sent ticket in requesting a “contest” hearing.
• Finally called and asked about the ticket. Front desk person Christina was short, rude.
• I asked about my emails, she said he’s old school, doesn’t use email. I asked if she receives those emails, she said no.
• She said they would now charge me $50 (“expediting fee”) because the dispute case was in 2 weeks.
• I asked if she could waive the fee based on me attempting contact 3 different times and having used him in the past, she said no.
• I asked if I could speak with Fred Hopkins, she ignored me. She told me to go back to ARAG.
• I told I her I wasn’t really happy with this experience and she essentially hung up on me.
I looked at some online reviews and the say he essentially uses a “deferral”, which you can use yourself if available. I researched what he did for me, turns out he simply used a deferral.
My advice would be to AVOID this law office. This person was the most unprofessional, unpleasant person I’ve spoken to in a long time.
I see no way to actually reach Fred Hopkins directly at this point either to make him aware of his assistant’s behavior.
Two weeks ago, I wrote a detailed email for consultation to this company (as an ARAG member, with a confirmed case number). What did they do? Nothing, nada.
Very professional :(
Owner response
Hi Elias, I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get a response. Can you confirm what email you sent that to so we can follow up? We don't have your name in our system anywhere. Thank you!
Helped by Fred Hopkins two times on fighting traffic tickets and the outcome has always been byond satisfaction. Highly recommend them if you need such a service.
I had the pleasure of recently working with attorney, Jamie O'Brien. I would recommend her for your legal needs. She is a true professional who ALWAYS made me feel that I was an important client. She was very responsive and worked very hard to achieve the desired outcome. I felt respected, acknowledged, understood, and appreciated. I never had to wonder what the steps were going to be and she never made me feel as if any question or concern I had was invalid or insignificant. She is extremely intelligent yet explains things in ways that folks without law degrees can understand. She is hands down the best attorney I have ever worked with in my life. I recommend her highly!
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with our firm. I don't see your business on our client list. I'd be happy to discuss any issues you had with our firm if I know what to look for.
I worked with this firm to contest a traffic infraction. The situation with COVID wound up pushing the hearing date further and further out. I got helpful and timely updates from Christina, who I primarily worked with, and found the overall experience to be completely painless. Considering the remote nature of my particular situation, this firm did a fantastic job and demonstrated savviness and the ability to independently get things done.
Thank you to Christina F. and the rest of the team at O’brien, Barton, and Hopkins.
Lisa Barton represented my husband and I in a very difficult relocation matter over our his daughter. It was 50/50 custody and the mother wanted to move his daughter to the other side of the country. Lisa did an amazing job building our case. She stuck to the facts, stayed organized and did not have to resort to disparaging the other parent to try to sway the judge like the other side did. We won our case! Money well spent. I would highly recommend Lisa Barton as an attorney.
