If I could give a zero I would, due to the fact that Charles Oren lied to me and was of no help for this new pendemic, over the phone hearing . I had to look online for help from other attorneys. On the day of my hearing which was scheduled for 12 p.m. the Judge called me and she informed me that my attorney would not be present so I could reschedule and wait six more months or continue without him. I chose to continue without him . 15 minutes into the hearing I was getting a call , that I could not answer but when I checked after the hearing, it was from Charles Oren, telling me the hearing was going to be rescheduled because of the judge and that he was sorry which was a lie since I was with the Judge in the hearing
He ended up coming into the hearing and I was asked by the judge if it was okay I said yes, he then begin to argue with the judge about why he was late. After the hearing he left a message message saying it didn't look good. Two weeks later when I was approved for benefits I then filed a review of attorney fees with a letter to the judge. It's been 6 months and I was just informed that Charles Oren will not be getting paid so justice has been served but it was a very stressful time for me I wouldn't recommend him.
Things that were done wrong
-I was never given a copy of my file from SS by them. Negative records weren’t identified by him or countered either in the hearing or on appeal.
-Calls are never returned and questions are never answered. I saw him for a total of less than 10 minutes. He cancelled our before hearing meeting.
-The appeal he filed with the appeals council after he lost at the hearing was 7 words long. I fired Oren and the next lawyer’s appeal was 100’s of pages long.
-I received a bench decision at the next hearing because the Oren hearing denial contradicted itself many times. No contradiction was challenged by Oren.
-I hired Matthew Holmberg after this and the difference of aptitude and professionalism was palpable. If he hadn’t fixed Oren’s mistakes I would’ve never even gotten a hearing with the appeals council and would have lost years of back pay.
-Those mistakes will end up costing me over $10K extra in lawyer’s fees. Almost a year of my disability income.
The office is rude without cause and do not return calls. They did not submit medical information needed for my case. They disregarded important questions, always leaving you in the dark. After a couple years of going to Oren I reached the 25% cap. So he advised me to go to another Lawyer. While I did have to start fresh my case was approved in a few months with No fee attached.
Went in today for a consultation and Mr Oren was very Polite and kind he explained everything in which I could understand and decided to take my case. I’m looking forward to his representation and I am super super happy I have Mr Oren on my side. If you want an amazing Lawyer that knows his stuff and is professional💯💯💯 Oren&Oren Law Is A Must Go Too hands down.
Had my hearing yesterday and while I don't know the outcome yet, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr. Oren. If you are looking for someone to babysit you and hold your hand the whole way, he isn't going to be for you. If however, you understand that he is not a doctor, a vocational expert, nor a judge, and can only work with what your doctors provide, then you will be just fine.
He is an attorney, he has no control over your disability or health. He can't fabricate evidence or work with what he doesn't have. This is your hearing, you should be the one to make sure he has the most up to date records available. I know it seems a bit strange cause you are thinking, "Then why am I paying him?" The answer is simple, you're paying him for his legal knowledge and experience in SSID hearings, and he won't disappoint.
I wish I could give this attorney's office a zero rating. There's no contact with the attorney, you're forced to talk to the front desk ladies because Mr. Charlie Oren is never in the office. Also, he's only at the Bakersfield location on some Friday's. He doesn't care about the small SSI cases and it's probably because he has too many to keep up with all of them. I called him to express my concerns and how it's been over a year and a half since I went to him with my case, his response "Find a different attorney." give or take a few curse words. Do you really want someone representing you when his response is for you to find someone else?
If you choose to use this law practice do so with the knowledge that you are just a number!!! your calls are never returned, the staff is placating, rude and at times hostile.
The paperwork is not filed in a timly matter, which in turn delays an already exhaustive wait..... please do your self a favor don't even consider this office when looking for a disability attorney.
