I rescently hired Denis Buswa as my attorney to help in a texting and driving case. The reason I got an attorney was because I was driving Lyft while between jobs and I couldn't afford to lose my one form of income. The lack of attention to detail was wild. The first time we went into court she didn't even know there was video from the officer. At this time she told me if had to go to trial we would have a good shot at winning because I 100% did not do it. I had records showing I did not text. I had records showing I was not on apps or using data. The day of court at 10:30am I receive a text from Denise asking for my verizon phone bills for the texting and driving case. This was alarming because I had provided all information weeks prior and we had to be in court at 3:30pm. When I got to court I was told by my lawyer that we could not use any of the documents I had provided because she would have had to subpoena verizon and it would have taken a long time (this is what I paid her to do and she showed up with nothing to use). Furthermore we then discussed a plan of action if we were to go into the trial. She did not use one question that we discussed prior to going into court. She did not have questions prepared, and she was writing them down while we were waiting for trial minutes before we went in. After going through the trial I lost. Denise even said she didnt know how she felt going into count... once again not good to have your lawyer worried about the case minutes before it happens when you provided her with everything to win. Denise also told me I wouldnt have to pay the whole fine if I lost. Once again wrong. If I admitted I was wrong, which I wasn't, and I had the documents to prove it.. I could have walked away with just the fine of 200 dollars. Because I hired Denise and I walked away with a 720 dollar lesson. The sad part was when at the end of it all she asked me if she gave me 100 dollars back would it help since we just lost. I then told her I believe she should at least pay my fine. She told me she would talk to her partner and I have reached out 4 times now with no responses. She could have won this case. She could have done her job. She is a nice person and this is not personal it's strictly business. If you are looking for a lawyer for anything more serious than a texting and driving case I would truly look somewhere else because this case should have been a layup.
