I just called Terry Garrett to inquire on estate planning services for my grandparents. Her attitude was so harsh and condescending for asking basic questions that I ended the call before we even got started. Hard pass. Change your attitude.

When my brother died suddenly in the summer of 2021, I was completely at a loss as to how to proceed as he lived in Austin, Texas and I live outside Washington, DC. A cousin's probate attorney referred me to Terry Garrett. It was the best possible choice I could have made. Over Zoom, she very clearly explained what the process in Texas would be if there was a will or if there wasn't, and provided very clear fact sheets describing every step of the process for me to refer to as needed. As it turned out, there was no will which meant there was a longer process to determine heirship. The flat fee arrangement offered by her office was a great benefit through the lengthy process of obtaining court recognition as my brother's heir. It meant I felt free to email her office at any time if I had a question or concern without worrying about cost. When I was the executor of my parents' estate, each time I contacted the attorney in that case, there was another charge of $200-300. I can report that anytime I had a question, I knew that I would receive a response within 24 hours, if not the same day -- even on the weekend! Because Ms. Garrett and her associates were so conscientious about the case and ensured that documents were filed promptly, my petition was before the court and settled before the end of the year. (keep in mind because of Covid there were extremely delays in dealing with government officials everywhere.) I would highly recommend Ms. Garrett to anyone facing the need to deal with a family members' estate.
