I feel like Ariel let me shoot myself in the foot because I didn't know what I was doing and she didn't take a strong position in my favor. Unfortunately I didn't read my ex's disclosure until years later to find out there was a large retirement account I didn't know about. It made my overly generous offer even more unbalanced. Its a shame Ariel didn't bring it to my attention. This was the hardest time of my life, loosing all my money, taking on so much debt, and raising a baby by myself. Ariel's only advice was "just take 3 months off of work so we can have a more advantageous disclosure." That was completely impractical advice. Then, she has the nerve to email me after posting this review and "remind me that I only hired her for a limited scope." I guess $8790 is limited scope. Now, every month I make exorbitant spousal support payments while paying the minimum on mountains of debt and I wish I had gotten better advice.

In detail, I had a complicated divorce and domestic violence case that started in June 2023. Ariel accepted my divorce case and was able to help me get exactly what I wanted, with sanctions against the opposing side. Rebecca handled my domestic violence case, and this is where I really appreciated the advice of the law team at Ariel's office. On the day of my domestic violence hearing before trial, the opposing side wanted to settle. Out of care and concern for me, Ariel and Rebecca encouraged me to proceed for my safety and protection. Im so glad I listened. We were successful in securing a 4 year restraining order and I was awarded all lawyer fees. It took a year and a half but it was worth the wait. I have had the privilege of having Rebecca Jones represent me throughout my post-divorce hearings and any other issues where legalities were involved concerning my divorce. I cannot recommend Ariel highly enough. Going through a divorce is never easy, but having Ariel as my attorney made all the difference. Ariel seemed like a really smart attorney, but it was $700 down the drain just to hear her tell me she couldn't take on my case. Lawyers should have some ethics in their practices when it comes to consults and not just use that as a way to bait clients they have no intention of serving. To give more detail, I had first scheduled a consult with Ariel and she proceeded to inform me how my case might go, while also giving me the incorrect sense that I could easily win greater than 50/50 custody. She said she couldn't take my case on at the time but she would have more time in the next month. So I waited and scheduled another consult for the next month, this time an hour long to go into more detail. When we had our second consult, she informed me of things we had already discussed on the first consult, then at the end told me I should go with a larger firm since theirs wasn't equipped for a complex case like mine. What a waste of time and money. She should have made that decision during my first consult. I would stay away from this firm if you think your case will be anything but an easy amicable divorce. Also, her assistant takes days/weeks to get back to your question, so don't expect quick replies.

Divorce is a horrible thing. It is filled with turmoil, angst, frustration…fear. At least that is how it was for me. I found Ariel by chance. I think I just Googled, “divorce attorneys, Walnut Creek”. I live out of state, so I needed an attorney who was willing to work with me long distance. In Ariel, I found a true advocate.
