Been a while since I worked with Lauren on my custody/divorce case. The resolution wasn't great. To be clear I have no drug records, no criminal history, am employed full time with a solid, lucrative career. There have been zero cases brought against me ever. My ex tricked me into signing a separation agreement that granted him full custody, then he moved my son an hour away and left me with very few options.
When I called Lauren and explained the situation she seemed to believe that we could very easily regain joint custody and deal with the commute that was forced upon me to visit my kid.
During the course of my case, I probably had to repeat the same information to Lauren 20 times. None of the information that I relayed during our phone screen stuck, I had to repeat all of it.
When it came time to start drafting paperwork, Lauren was so all over the place and hard to reach that my ex said to me with a smug tone, "I think we should have my lawyer draft this up, yours seems to be a little spacey" - Extremely embarrassing.
I ended up with no custody + paying child support. They didn't have to move my kid back or make any concessions for travel. I got visitation, but not a lot of it. And after I REALLY pushed her to get it done, I got a promise that they won't move him FURTHER away. Again, I had to really push her to try and get that done.
She sort of just let them make all the offers and then showed it to me and / I / was the one who had to be like, no, that's not fair, we should push to change it.
Like, she was essentially no more than a mouthpiece.
It's not like she was cheap. I had to pay her a $5,000 retainer.
This was a couple years ago now, so I've given myself plenty of time to cool off.
Lauren assisted me with a family matter. I'm very grateful for her professionalism and her compassion. I echo the sentiment of others responses--in that she listened to me and advocated for the best interest of myself and my daughter.
No commitment to potential new client. No follow through with respective statements made in initial contact
Owner response
I have no idea who you are. I have gone through my entire list of leads for the last six months and nowhere is your name listed as having contacted me either by phone or by email. However, I do wish you all the best with whatever your legal matter is.
Lauren represented me during a nightmare of a family court case. She is kind and compassionate, she returned my phone calls/emails in a timely manner. She actually listened and cared to what I had to say and how I felt. I highly recommend Lauren Cohen.
The Law Office of Lauren S. Cohen is one I highly recommend. She has over 40 years of knowledge and experience in the Divorce field. Not only that. Ms. Cohen brings compassion to her approach which means so much when things go sideways. If you need help in matters of Divorce take my advice and contact Ms.Cohen. Thankyou, Ms. Cohen, for all your help. Richard E Tanzini.
Ms. Cohen was professional and extremely prepared. She was a bulldog in the courtroom and was able to present my case clearly. Her knowledge of the law was nothing short of amazing. As a father, I felt I was already at a disadvantage and she made sure it was an even playing field. I would highly recommend her to anyone going through such a personal and difficult situation as a divorce can be. She was a blessing to me and my son!
Owner response
Thank you Allen for your kind words. It was my pleasure to help you and your son.
Recently I contacted for information regarding scheduling a consultation. Ms. Cohen replied with the costs and asked how I'd like to proceed. I responded, with yes I'd like to schedule. Admittedly, because of my situation, I decided to include a great deal of information so she would know ahead of time. It's been over a week, I didn't even get a reply or an appointment. I also followed up. I'm sorry to say, I'm disappointed and I don't think her description of her office or service is accurately described.
She has my email and my phone number.
Good luck.
Thank you
Owner response
I'm sorry that you have been disappointed. I have reviewed my notes of our conversation and they indicate that you were to contact me again if you wished to proceed.
