I was referred to McCardell Law Firm for Bankruptcy, which I did not even need to file. I paid Aaron McCardell $1500 to basically research a book on a stance I left viable to my case. I was more of an advocate with the mortgage company than any legal representation I paid for. Mr. McCardell called my mortgage company perhaps a handful of times. I however, called everyday until action happened. He looked over a partial claim agreement and read small book for $1500. He then stated I still had time left and I asked for that to be placed towards another case of a contractor who failed to keep his contracted agreement. Mr. McCardell must be either 1. Overwhelmed with the amount of cases he has, or 2. Not knowledgeable about DTPA (Deceptive Trade Practices Act). I had to then call his firm frequently for an update constantly. The receptionist always stated she was take a message, but never a call back. This happened for at least two to three weeks. I would've really appreciated honestly, but hey- everyone has bills and taking money is a lot of liars- I mean lawyers forte. I am very disappointed in the firm and how Aaron strung me along, knowing he was not knowledgeable or capable of creating a demand letter that he supposedly said was a "courtesy", even though when I initially came into his office, I was very direct with all of the issues surrounding the home purchase/house fire I endured. As I reiterate- I am very disappointed with how everything is going or has gone. I am yet to receive a DTPA lawyer referral he supposedly wanted to handle my case(s) and an 'end of representation' letter, so that I can move forward advocating for myself with my mortgage company. I requested a refund of money not used for hours not spent on researching anything concerning my case, which he denied. At this point, he can keep the money because apparently he needs it way more than I do. I would not use this firm, unless you are okay with little to no communication if someone is not capable of doing a task properly. Clear communication, honest and taking accountability is what's lacking. Edit: Mr. McCardell called shortly after this review to offer suggestions of another lawyer who would be capable of handling my case. Initially, I was very hesitant in working with someone that he suggested, however I researched the new lawyer and he is amazing! From initial communication to organization, aggressively working on the case and clear communication! I had to write communication twice because I feel it is very important to share details with your client every step of the way, when dealing with delicate matters. Thank You Mr. McCardell for the new attorney suggestion.
