CrashStory does not yet have enough structured review evidence on this firm to call out consistent strengths with confidence.
3 reviews currently have no visible owner response, so the written feedback matters more than response style.

Posted 2 years ago and Steve Wakeman had my review deleted so posting again to give fair warning to potential clients. Stay away from this firm and Steve Wakeman. He agreed to finish up some Rules to Show Cause that were already filed for back child support and medical bills for my children that my ex did not pay. My ex had been found in contempt numerous times for the same thing. We agreed on a flat price I would pay to litigate the rules so that I would be assured to come out of court with some money to take care of my kids with and not pay it all out in attorney fees attempting to get back child support. Steve Wakeman agreed to the set fee. While he was preparing I asked for billing so I would know where we were on expenses. Wakeman had stepped into case in January and worked for a couple of months. He never sent me a bill when I requested. So finally we are in court and he leans over and hands me bill and says he is going to put me on the stand to verify the billing as you can recover if you win the contempt charges. The bill was over double and more than I would get back in child support. I told him no and this was not what we agreed to. He said don't worry, your ex will have to pay it, not you. The judge's ruling comes back and it is so bad that an appeal was going to have to be done. I went back to Wakeman's office to discuss. Throughout the case he had been very cocky about himself and our position that we should win and how poor of a lawyer the opposing counsel was. So in his office I am discussing the ruling that was not a favorable outcome for me and my children. And he is still talking about how bad of lawyer the opposing counsel is. He then left his office and he slammed his door and never returned. Left me sitting there. Would never return a phone call or email. Left me with less than 30 days to get an appeal on file and I had to find a new lawyer to get up to speed and draft the appeal. Very unprofessional and unethical behavior by Steve Wakeman. I got another attorney to draft and win an appeal and then Wakeman and his firm thought they should sue me for the money I got in the appeal years later after he cost me the appeal and I recovered no money for the lawyer fees to actually do the appeal. They filed court documents with absolute lies in it and never owned up to his trickery and lies. Due to the legal and appeal process, these facts were not able to be included in the court case. Only facts from the circuit court record could be put in the appeal. I find Steve Wakeman and his firm to be one of the most unethical firms I have ever dealt with. I would not trust him for one second as he has his own agenda. Do some research on him. There are Journal Star articles on him that you may want to read as well where a judge reprimands him. --
