Priyanka was absolutely amazing to work with as our attorney for the last three years. (As well as her assistant Janeen). Our case was very complicated throughout and we are thankful she took the time to be so professional, patient, and explained things in a way to ease our minds and reassure us when an unexpected hurdle came up which was often in our adoption case. She was always accessible and quick to answer any questions we had concerning this difficult case. We couldn’t have asked for a better attorney to help make our family officially complete.
My experience with Jonathan Hassell and Brian Walters was nothing short of a nightmare. I am deeply dissatisfied and regret the day I chose this firm to represent me. I would listen religiously to Brian Walter's podcast and felt he had a lot of knowledge, but in the courtroom, I saw that none of that knowledge translated into actual application.
Every single dad knows that it sucks being a father in a Texas family court, but it sucks even more when your own attorney is too spineless to stand up for you. I hope this guy never goes through a divorce and gets the kind of representation I got because the way his anger was over the phone, he wouldn't have as much patience as me. On the most important day (trial day), he talked to me for 5 minutes the day before. I was extremely unprepared and he set me up to make a fool out of myself in court. The lack of preparation was embarrassingly evident as I felt ill-equipped and set up to be ridiculed in court. His indifference to my case and my needs is a disgrace to his profession.
Any other profession, he would've been fired and reprimanded. Most of the negative comments here are related to Jonathan Hassell, a disgraced attorney that hopped in from another firm. I was truly crossing my fingers hoping I didn't get him. I specifically requested a capable attorney and they stuck me with the worst at the firm. From his first phone call, Jonathan was rude. He thought he was Harvey Spector in an episode of Suits. This is not a TV show, it is real life and my divorce case is very important to me. It's not a joke. Jonathan came off extremely pretentious. His demeanor was often condescending, and I felt that his long conversations with the opposing counsel depleted my retainer rapidly. Additionally, there were instances where I felt that he made errors in understanding simple key details of my case, which further troubled me. What am I really paying for here?
He made several very obvious mistakes as he was not detail-oriented, stating that I said something to my ex-wife through a message exchange. When I showed him that it was actually my ex-wife who said that to ME, instead of taking accountability, he shifts the topic. He spent over an hour lecturing me on the phone. He made me believe I actually said it so I was apologizing, but when I looked back at the messages, I didn't even DO what he said I did. I get that lawyers are humans and make mistakes, but this was so clearly obvious. It says my name and it says my ex-wife's name next to each message... how can he not know who said that? I attempted to express these concerns to Brian, but unfortunately, my requests for a change in paralegal were denied.
In conclusion, if you're seeking legal representation that actually values you as a client, a human being, pays attention to detail, communicates effectively, and maintains a high standard of professionalism, look elsewhere.
At Walters Gilbreath, you can expect great communication and transparency throughout your case. If you are in need of a family law attorney, look no further.
