I really wish I could explain how awful of an experience I had with this firm. To sum it up, Aaron Gwilliam’s incompetency personally cost me over $30,000 in additional legal fees and unnecessary alimony.
I’ll explain below.
I came to Aaron with a very basic, cut and dry divorce case. No real assets. No tangible argument on custody. We prepared for the hearing on temporary orders and he had me fill out a financial declaration while sitting at his office. No instructions, no guidance on anything throughout my case.
I didn’t know it at the time, but he left me completely exposed and unprepared for the raging fight ahead. When we went the the hearing for temp orders, the commissioner raked us over the coals.
Because Aaron failed to prepare for the hearing, I ended up paying my ex husband $1000/month in Alimony for a year and I paid 100% of childcare expenses, medical out of pocket, and child support; on a 50/50 custody case where our incomes were essentially the same! In fact, for the 7 out of the 8 years we were married my ex out earned me but somehow I got slammed into paying him.
When we came out after getting ruined by the commissioner, Aaron tried to sheepishly back out of my case by saying he hurt his arm and might have to have surgery sometime soon.
It took an additional year and additional twenty thousand to resolve my divorce case; a case that would have gone exponentially smoother had he just done his job as an attorney.
Do not hire him or this firm. Having gone through the process extensively, I wish I could take it all back.
I'm a divorce mediator and regularly work with David on divorce and family law cases. I always appreciate his knowledge, temperament, and ability to advise his clients fairly and realistically. I would recommend him to anyone needing a divorce attorney.
Owner response
Thank, Rob. This review is meaningful to us. We always enjoy working with you.
Charged me $225 for sending one email that took no longer than 10 minutes to compose. Tried to convince me that my divorce decree needed to be revised even though my ex and I agree on it. I would not recommend him.
- take his response as proof. He mentioned a case completely unrelated to the review. Just another attorney who’s hungry for your money and will tell you that you need an attorney for the simplest of things.
Owner response
Hi Kameron,
I'm glad we were able to get one case against you dismissed, and I'm sorry that you were upset about billing that happened after you contacted me to ask for help again. I wish you the best of luck going forward.
Best,
David
I was looking for some feedback on a legal issue and heard about this firm via FB. So many people raved about Corbett Gwilliam on various threads that I felt comfortable giving them a try.
I had a consultation with David, who was friendly, informative, and easy to talk to. He also gave me great advice and I left with a good understanding of my situation.
I can absolutely reccomend David and his firm. I'll be using them in the future because I feel like I'll be in very good hands.
If you're looking for solid legal advice, check them out!
**edit
When you are told by your attorney a few weeks before your mediation that he’s bff’s with your exes attorney from college…be alarmed. I couldn’t afford to start over, but was absolutely sold down the river by my attorney. I thought I was getting new tax laws only to find he was far from honest. “That’s just wording Brad wanted” really meant “you’re screwed but I’m not telling you”.
The system and most lawyers don’t really care about you or integrity.
Owner response
Hi Sue,
The other attorney and I went to the same law school, but we attended at different times. We never knew each other before we started practicing law.

I know we have discussed these issues before, and I don't want to break confidentiality, so I'll just say that my recollection of our conversations are different from each other. I apologize for any role I played in miscommunication.

David
I cannot express in words how much David Corbett helped me. I was in dire need of someone who was empathetic and sympathetic to my needs, and was willing to hear out every question, he answered them so kindly and in such a way that I could understand everything that was going to happen, and was very easy to talk with. He comes at my highest referral by far, and would send my own family to him if needed, he will not be making a mistake by retaining David Corbett, you’ll be making that best decision for yourself.
The Corbett’s office was incredibly supportive and aggressive in fighting for my case. David Corbett is very kind and easy to work with but knows how to fight strongly on your case. Couldn’t recommend his office more.
I was referred to David from my local Bishop and i am so glad I chose them! David Corbett and his office have been, by far, the best thing to happen in my situation! David is extremely professional and was courteous and understanding with me. His secretary/assistant, Becky, is an absolute joy to talk to. The outcome of my case was the answer to mine and my families prayers, and we would not have received that outcome without the help of David Corbett!! Thank you for everything!!
P.S. The charge for services were also lower than the other quotes I had received from other local attorneys.
Owner response
Thanks, Aaron. You made it easy to get to the good outcome. We were very happy to help you.

David
David did a fantastic job for me. Him and Becky were there for me when I had any questions or concerns. Dave kepy my mind at ease during the meditation process and made everything go smoothly.
I am extremely happy with the outcome of my divorce mediation and I recommend David to anyone going through the same situation.
Owner response
Hi Levi, we really appreciate this review. Our job is a lot easier when we have great clients. It was a pleasure helping you.
I’m so disappointed with David Corbett mid DV modifying divorce decree he withdrew himself and I had to start over paying another attorney 20k just to go over everything he refused to do. I would not trust this attorney especially if you have a complicated divorce
Working with David was an experience I will never forget. He gave me everything I asked for and, than MORE! My case couldn’t have went any better than it did. He fights hard for you, he pays attention to all the details and concerns I had. He gave me back my voice that I hid for so long. I recommend him to anyone, and have already recommended him to those I know need an Attorney. I will only use him for any of my needs in the future!
Owner response
Thanks, Kelsy. I'm glad we were able to put things right.
David is the most professional, detail-oriented, and diligent attorney I have every worked with. He helped me protect my rights after a messy divorce. I would highly recommend my friends, family, or anyone who needs litigation help.
Owner response
