estate planning

This Proskauer Boca office began as a solo office for David Pratt and it really is still so. Pratt/Proskauer can do a good job, some real expertise, with finite tasks such as a contract or transaction as long as you can supervise. G-d forbid you give them any authority to act without supervision, such as after your death. My family has a lot of wealth in valuable patents - this firm doesn't do patents but I am bringing this up because we are constantly fighting infringement, we are sending cease and desist letters and intitiating lawsuits. The point is that it's a rough world and you have to guard your wealth if you want your family to keep it. You don't like to think about death so you put off estate planning. Finally you do it and pat yourself on the back. But you shouldn't because you just set it up so Proskauer/Pratt can take it all. Don't abandon your common sense, don't be a fool. You want Proskauer/Pratt to inherit your wealth, fine, you want it to go to charity or children, you find another firm.
