This was a very odd experience. I had a very cordial conversation with the paralegal discussing my daughter and whether they can help her get into a school better suited for her situation. I doubt her situation is any different from any other parent seeking an education lawyer. I paid 600 to have a consultation, again very cordial although probably 20 minutes. I then didn’t hear anything back for over a week so I emailed the paralegal and asked whether they would take my case. She told me she would get back to me and after a few more days I was told they will not take my case and good luck. I emailed asking for a reason explaining I would like to avoid spending 600 to other lawyers if I don’t have a winnable case, but she wouldn’t respond. I tried calling a few times but she uses her caller id to screen calls as i only reached her when I had my wife call. She told me I didn’t give a school my daughter was interested in so that’s why they couldn’t take the case. This was obviously a bs excuse, they simply could have asked me but I played along and gave her the name of the school she was interested in. She then told me I first needed to find out if this school had a availability and I emailed them today saying they did. I then got an email from Spencer with a notice of non-engagement and told they don’t disclose internal decisions. I have no issue not taking the case but for 600 dollars I think people are at least entitled to know why or at a minimum whether the case has merit but they just can’t take it. I don’t know any other field that can charge this type of money and behave like this. Please avoid .
Working with Spencer Walsh Law isn't just your typical transactional goal-oriented experience. You know instantly that they care - they have true empathy snd relatability. You feel like you're working with peers, colleagues and like-minded humans. They are extremely good at what they do, and they are upfront about the process and the potential outcome. I can't recommend them enough.
Tracey and team are not just professional, but they deeply care about what's best for your child and your family. Throughout the difficult journey of navigating the special education system, the team has guided us through every step and anticipated all of our concerns. Tracey has the deepest bench of lawyers who had public experiences directly related to my cases. The cost structure is also very reasonable and they are willing to work with you. I'd highly recommend Tracey and team to help your special kiddo grow in the environment they deserve.
Our family has been working with Spencer Walsh for many years and has been very pleased with the quality of the representation, the professionalism, the responsiveness, and the care with which they treat their clients. They have successfully won settlements and services for our son that has allowed him to thrive in the right school settings over the years. It has not always been easy but having the the Spencer Walsh team by our side, representing us, has made it bearable and even worth it. Each and every person we have had contact with at the firm has been excellent at what they do and 100% responsiveness to our questions and concerns. We are so very grateful for the impact they have had on our son's education and on our lives.

An update (August 2023): Because of Spencer Walsh, our son is excitedly off to college this Fall. We cannot thank Tracey and her team enough for making sure our son was able to attend a high school where he could thrive and that prepared him rigorously for college. Thank you, again, Spencer Walsh team! We could not have been better represented.
Tracey and her team have successfully handled our lawsuits for our autistic son to attend private school for the past 4 years. We always win or settle in our favor. This law firm knows what they are doing and make sure we are prepared if we need to go to hearing. They truly understand everything about IDEA. Highly recommended.
My family has worked with Spencer Walsh Law and team for a few years now and have been very grateful and satisfied with the help and guidance they have provided us with. They helped my little brother when the public education system was unable too and have guided us in providing him with a high quality education! They are a great team, always follow up quickly on any questions we have, and have consistently provided us with high quality guidance that we trust! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them!
Hello. I have been a client of Spencer Walsh Law, PLLC for the past 6 years.
I highly recommend Spencer Walsh Law for providing superior law services for many reasons.
In my opinion, this Law Firm is the kindest, most understanding and organized law firm that exists! I have to elaborate a bit more. Whatever your situation, all you have to do is send an email or make a telephone call and explain your situation. I promise you, you will receive the best and most professional advice from this firm. They will provide step by step instructions on how to proceed in a manner that is most favorable to your case. You will receive answers in a super timely fashion. Answers that will actually answer your questions and concerns! I could honestly go on and on about how great this firm is and how they have literally changed the course of my daughter’s life for the better.
My daughter is 17 yo and attends Cooke School and Institute in Harlem, NY. She was diagnosed with an intellectual disability at the age of 11 yo. She is now thriving and has flourished into one amazing teenager!!
To all of you out there, you can look the world once over and never find the kind of professionalism, consistent support and winning team then at Spencer Walsh Law.
Thank you.
Tracey Spencer-Walsh and her team are dedicated, caring advocates for the families they serve. I'm so grateful to them for all the ways they've helped our family.
Prior to meeting the team at Spencer Walsh Law, I was overwhelmed by the complex bureaucracy of the NYC Dept of Education. After my first conversation with Tracey, I knew I had found the right legal experts to support my son and his educational challenges due to Dravet Syndrome and ADHD. I highly recommend Spencer Walsh Law for many reasons - their exceptional legal counsel, their rapid responsiveness and their patient persistence. Moreover, the entire staff has a higher order level of kindness, compassion and empathy. Their support for families like ours and especially for our uniquely amazing kids is unrivaled.
Tracey Spencer Walsh and her team are fierce, talented advocates for families seeking an appropriate educational program for their children. In our very first phone conversation with Tracey, she listened closely to the specifics of our problem and responded with thoughtful, clear ideas and strategies on how to proceed. We are grateful that we were guided by Tracey and her team during the unique, challenging year of 2020 when covid-19 upended our lives. One thing I especially appreciate is the full-team approach to every client - it was apparent that everyone from Spencer Walsh Law knew exactly what was going on with our case at all times. Emails and voice mails are returned promptly; questions are thoroughly answered and we felt completely prepared for our hearing. We are especially grateful to Chris Barnett, who masterfully litigated our case. I also appreciate that at no time were we promised any guaranteed results of our efforts to secure an appropriate education for our child. But what Tracey and her team can guarantee is 100% commitment to their clients and thorough investigation, preparation and follow-through on every case they pursue.
