If you were involved in a car accident, avoid this Dr at all costs. It’s been 10 months and I’m still suffering in massive amounts of pain because Dr. Atencio wanted to line his own pockets instead of being a good doctor and take care of his patient. It’s ruined my life, my finances, my credit score, etc. I would’ve been fully recovered by now if he had just done the right thing and done his job. I doubt any of these 5 star reviews are actually authentic. I was rear ended and my pain levels have been at an all time high from the start. A couple of months after the accident, I mentioned surgery even though it’s not what I want to do, I know it’s the only thing that will bring me relief. Never did get that referral. Instead, I wasted time on making an appt for blockers because Dr. Atencio insisted that’s what I needed. When I went to the appt with Dr. khan, he was confused as to why I would need an appt for blockers and didn’t do the procedure. Even I, who has zero medical education, was confused as to why I needed blockers when it’s very obvious my pain is from nerves and not joints and it’s visible on the MRI. Just another money grab from a greedy doctor at the expense of the patient. I wasted time on PT which also did nothing. For months now I’ve been unable to walk more than half the time and can’t work at all. Just waste my time taking pills and laying in bed. One day I collapsed and was admitted to the hospital. Still no referral for a surgeon. I’ve even had to use a bed pan at home because I can’t get up. Still no referral for a surgeon. I regret wasting my time with this Dr. I would’ve been halfway recovered from surgery had I just gotten that referral months ago. Oh, not to mention, their VA will flat out ignore you instead of responding to your questions. He also referred me to a psychiatrist who was literally looking at a list of questions that had nothing to do with how I feel. He wouldn’t sway from the list and would ask me questions like am I afraid of driving and do I have flashbacks of the car accident. I tried to tell him that I am depressed, have no money since I can’t work properly, my house is disgusting because I can’t clean it, I’m having memory issues and my ADD is worse, and I’m in constant pain and losing friends. He wouldn’t listen. Dr. Atencio will literally refer you to a quack instead of a real psychiatrist.
