Dora from The Lex Firm was very professional and helped me retain my drivers license. I’m very happy with her service and would recommend her a million times over!
Owner response
That means a lot to hear - thank you so much. You well earned your driving privilege restoration and we are thrilled for you, Coleman!
I'm very disappointed with their services regarding my dismissed case. Be careful; they seem mainly focused on money, not resolution.
Update - I feel I was threatened and taken advantage of by this firm. Consumer beware. I am still taking action on this case but want to ensure other consumers/clients understand the issues.
I am writing to formally contest the legal fees charged in the matter of my case, as they appear to be excessive and inconsistent with ethical billing practices. The invoiced amount raises significant concerns regarding transparency, reasonableness, and adherence to professional standards.
The billed hours appear disproportionate to the complexity of the matter. The American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 1.5, mandates that fees be reasonable, considering factors such as the time and labor required, the novelty of the legal issues, and the skill necessary. The charges in this case do not align with these criteria.
Furthermore, there is evidence of potential duplicative billing. Multiple attorneys appear to have charged for the same or overlapping tasks, such as "Communications with the client", without clear justification for their simultaneous involvement. This practice inflates costs unnecessarily and violates the principle of client-centered representation.
In light of these issues, I request a detailed breakdown of all charges, including specific tasks, time entries, and the credentials of personnel involved. Additionally, I propose a revised invoice reflecting reasonable and customary rates for the services provided. Should this matter remain unresolved, I am prepared to escalate the issue to the appropriate state bar association for review under applicable ethics rules.
After a thorough review of the invoices and services rendered, I have identified several discrepancies that warrant correction. These concerns are grounded in principles of reasonable billing as outlined in the American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 1.5, and applicable state ethics guidelines. Specifically, I object to the following:
1. $1,500 Flat Fee: The imposition of a $1,500 flat fee is neither justified nor supported by the scope of work performed. It was also never communicated, nor is it documented in the contract. This charge appears analogous to billing for services not rendered, as no documentation substantiates its applicability.
2. Pre-Agreement Hours: Billing for hours prior to the execution of a fee agreement is improper and contravenes standard practice, as no contractual obligation existed at that time. Additionally, I was consulting and interviewing other attorneys from 2/14/2025 to 2/21/2025. I had not committed to Dora in any form. LegalShield also provided for consultation hours with potential attorneys.
3. Non-Substantive Communications: The invoices include hours for scheduling-related emails, texts, and phone calls, including instances where I was placed on hold or calls were interrupted and rescheduled. These administrative tasks are not billable as substantive legal work.
4. Delayed Invoicing: The firm’s delay in providing invoices—up to one month after my requests—hinders timely review and constitutes an unreasonable practice, potentially obscuring billing inaccuracies.
5. Excessive Time for Opposing Counsel Discussions: The hours billed for communications with opposing counsel are disproportionately high relative to the complexity of the discussions, as assessed by professional standards.
6. Prolonged Case Dismissal: The process to dismiss my case was unnecessarily protracted due to delays attributable to your firm.

Hello George,
It appears you have once again taken your gripes online rather than respond to our repeated documented efforts to address your concerns, which you have chosen to ignore. If you would like to waive the attorney-client privilege, I would be happy to address each and every one of your concerns in detail, along with supporting phone records, emails, the entire court file and our Fee Agreement to demonstrate the hours and expenses spent on your case, and the dedicated service you received by our entire Firm. We take our role as professionals seriously and pride ourselves on going above and beyond the call of duty - which we did on your behalf. If you wish to have a constructive discussion, please feel free to contact me directly. We wish you nothing but the best.
Dora
Dora and Andre are a great team. They’re there for you when you truly need them and are great coaches along the way. Communication was lacking at times, including conversation and resolution with opposing counsel. Overall, I’d recommend them for simple and short tail cases

Thank you, Dalton! I know how frustrating and time consuming the legal process was and appreciate your patience and willingness to negotiate in good faith (with a difficult opponent) under challenging circumstances. Please stay in touch and let us know if you're ever back in MI for a visit!
Dora

Extremely incompetent lawyer. I hired her to handle a simple business matter. After Dora Sokolowski didn’t get the results she said she could I filed the paperwork myself and got great results. Too bad I had to learn about her the hard way. Hopefully this review with serve to help others avoid going through what I did.
Owner response
Hi Beverly,
We take all feedback seriously and are committed to providing respectful, professional service to our clients. Our Firm never represented you to warrant your harsh and unfair assessment of "incompetence." If your husband (who actually was our client, repeatedly for 10 years) waives the attorney client privilege so I may meaningfully respond, and you wish to discuss any specific concern constructively, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Dora

I hired the Lex firm and was so happy I did so. They understood my problems, my situation and helped me with my legal difficulties.
I couldn’t have found a better firm to deal with my legal troubles. They were compassionate, understanding, reasonably priced, and got me the outcome I was looking for.
I would like to thank them, not only by giving them a five star review, but by telling you, this is a firm you can trust, a firm that will do anything to help. They truly go the extra mile for you.
Owner response
Vincent! Thank you for the kindest sentiments you expressed. Your trust means the world to us and we would do it all over again and then some for you. Stay in touch and stop in or call to say hi sometime! We'd love to hear from you again.
Dora
Dora and Andre are a power couple of a team! They work so well together, and have provided such an extraordinary service. They are both very knowledgeable of the intricacies within the pertinent legal system. For me, the highlight of working with them is their ability to make their clients, whom may be experiencing something very stressful in their lives, feel at ease. They excel in bringing in a humanistic character to the entire process. They get to know their clients very well, beyond what is required for a case. Individually, they are both special and brings in tremendous qualities to the team. Andre is incredibly intelligent, and was able to break down relevant components of the legal system that is pertinent to the case. Dora brings in the humanistic, empathetic, and relatability aspect in the team. Together, they are very efficient and synergistic. I am incredibly happy to have met and have the chance to work with them, and I can confidently say that I will chose to consult them for anything pertinent that life throws at me.

Hello Dr. Dayco!
Though being involved in litigation is stressful, uncertain and full of twists and turns, I can't say enough about how much of a pleasure it was to work with you, mostly due to your positive attitude. I looked forward to each time we connected and always left off with a smile on my face - even when the fight ramped up and we had to deal with nonsense. Thank you for trusting us and allowing us to fight on your behalf. We would love to hear from you again, if for no other reason than to catch up. And maybe get that Pancite recipe :)
Dora
Dora is an amazing attorney! She is very compassionate and caring about her clients! If you are looking for an amazing, caring, ethical attorney, Dora is the attorney for you. She answered all our questions without ever making us feel that we were wasting her time and calmed our fears.

Hello Barbara,
Thank you for the kind words and for allowing us to fight for your family. Wishing you and the whole family well. Please give my best to Amber.
Dora
