12 reviewsThey DO call back. It might take a few days but they're the only free resource regarding UI in the Seattle area don't you think they're probably swamped with calls? Do you know any other lawyers/advocates that would even possibly take your case on a free/donation (albeit a very small one) basis? Give them a break, if they DIDN'T call back maybe you're the reason? Would you call back someone who blew you up everyday? Or left multiple rambling messages? Would you want to call that person back? These are people trying to do the most amount of good with limited resources. They're a charity, not a state / tax funded program, They don't OWE you anything. Be clear, be respectful, and be short with questions and long with listening to the answer. You should be ashamed of you left them a 1, 2 or 3 star review. Didn't your mother teach you beggars can't be choosers? If you don't like the way a charity Acts don't put yourself in a position to need a charity...

My representative was overworked and therefore ineffective. I felt as though I was just a number and that I was under-serviced. Think twice before accepting free legal services.

I highly recommend the ULP to anyone having issues with unemployment benefits. Andy and the rest of the staff I have been in contact with have been exceptionally helpful and understanding.

First of all, one of the reviews said that ULP "charges you". This is not my experience. A donation of one week's benefits is requested for their service and they made the request clear to me right off the bat, without making me feel obligated.
Given everything, I had a positive experience with ULP. My case was very complicated and it was easy for even me to get lost in the mess of it. The director John Tirpak represented me. He was optimistic and helped me to keep things simple. The whole process took two hearings, and I was supported the entire time. Even though there were several months of waiting in between, I felt good knowing that ULP was there to do what they could when it was time to fight my case a second time.
Three years of pandemic unemployment mess and stress and I have finally found some relief.
